+daan stam 1080p or the "p" for that matter stands for Progressive which records the image one line of resolution at a time as a whole and complete frame. The "i" in 1080i stands for Interlaced which when filming Interlaced video, during the first pass, the camera scans the odds 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and so on. During the second pass it records the even lines of resolution so 2, 4, 6, 8 and so on. Then it interlaces both odd and even lines creating an interlaced image. The camera also records video at 30 frames per second but interlaces two identical frames together. I personally don't like shooting in 1080i because fast moving scenes tend to produce what is known as combing which is the partial deinterlacing of the frame, it looks terrible.

+daan stam 1080p is progressive video. It plays line 1, line 2, line 3, etc for all frames. That's a lot of data per second. 1080i is interlaced video. Plays line 1, line 3, line 5, etc then goes back to play line 2, line 4, line 6, etc. Same ultimate resolution but half at a time. That's the quick and dirty (and incomplete) explanation.

+Obox Bigger production company like News Network, Churches, Corporate and live events, Reality TV Show, Basically anything in the ENG industry. Mirrorless and DSLR are primary use in lower budget productions and small company like wedding filmmakers, independent filmmakers. This is an ENG camera it use for multi cam purposes like using it with a video switcher, it have all the button needed and output for professional broadcast, which mirrorless and DSLR doesn't. like 10-12 bit 422 and 4444 color space, HD-SDI in and out, XLR, Multiple audio channels, Com, Professional codec with big bitrate, Triax and more.

Good luck recording for more than 30 minutes on your A7S II. It will stop recording AND overheat, and you'll be swapping batteries every 20 minutes. So you can forget about shooting long-form content such as live events with an A7S. The A7S is practically useless for that purpose. Your audio options are almost non-existant. And how are you going to send the content to the switcher for live broadcast? Over micro-HDMI? Give me a break. That is the least reliable connection known to man. The X320, on the other hand, can shoot continuously for DAYS on a single battery, output broadcast quality (4:2:2 color space) content over LOCKING HD-SDI cable (so it won't come unplugged mid-broadcast) with 4 or more independent channels of audio embedded. And that Fujinon broadcast lens has 14x motorized servo zoom (for super smooth zooms - good luck with that on the A7S) and is parfocal so your point of focus remains consistent as you zoom, and it's a f1.9 minimum aperture across the ENTIRE zoom range (good luck finding a lens even close to that for the A7S). In short, this is an ENG camera. The A7S is a mirrorless camera originally designed for still photography. They can compete in terms of image quality, sure. But there's more to life than image quality. In terms of actual usability in the field, the X320 blows the A7S out of the water. They aren't even in the same league. P.S. - We have an A7S II and use it alongside our FS5. Both outstanding cameras and we use them all the time. But nothing beats a camera like the X320 for live events.

I'll take broadcast quality (50mbps bitrate with a 4:2:2 color space) 1080p30 video in an edit-friendly format such as XDCAM over so-called "1080p60" video in useless, heavily compressed, difficult-to-edit cheap consumer formats like AVCHD any day of the week.
