I was an electrician apprentice in the IBEW for a while and I threaded my fair share of rigid pipe. I would say this tool would be awesome for a small job, having to do a few pipes. Instead of breaking out the corded version getting an extension cord and whatnot. In this instance this thing would be great. But on a big job unless you have a bunch of batteries to keep it going i would say most likely a corded setup would be better.

This would be great for the high rise that doesn't have power and the generator went down. You'll see a couple thousand of these in circulation, but the price tag that's going to come with it... I could see mobile home installers using it for anchors as well since they wouldn't have to pull out a generator...

Not going to lie, we use a harbor freight threader and love it. It has a hole in the handle like this Milwaukee that slides on a clamp attached to the pipe. No busted wrists and easy one hand operation. I see this Milwaukee has that hole in the handle. Is it designed to have some sort of clamp on the pipe? Especially since it is plastic?

He didn’t really give that thing a great recommendation, sounded more like he just gave a basic rundown of it. I’ll bet those batteries die faster than shit on that big boy. I’d rather have something corded that’s not going to die on me in the middle of a job, at least you won’t be left high and dry when all your batteries need charged. . Seriously though why does it have to be so bulky? Couldn’t it have been made a lot smaller and still function the same? I give this tool a score of 2/10 based on this video.

Josh, we really wish we had more demo time and as well as more prep time to gather different size pipe, this was just on loan for a few hours from the local Milwaukee team, we were just hoping to give some initial feedback for the Coptool team. We'll get some solid numbers very soon on RPM speed for settngs 1 & 2 as well as what the RPMs were for Ridgid 700. In our crude measure, eye balling no-load revolutions it seemed that setting 1 was about same as Ridgid Power Pony. Setting 2 is obviously faster (hate to guess an exact %) for smaller diameter, 1/2" or 3/4" will speed you up your work significantly, for larger pipe where you'd use setting 1 we're guessing it'll be about the same thread on time but can switch to setting 2 to speed up backing off the pipe. Also we agree 100% it's critical to know the stats on the runtime and how it'll be affected by running 3/4" (rep said 60 per 12.0Ah charge) vs 2" pipe (said 25 per charge). The kit version comes with 2x 12.0Ah batteries, if you keep 1 battery on the charger even with pretty continuously use if those are correct it should go all day, obviously we'll need to see some testing from pros to verify that. We don't even have pricing on this unit which launches in July other than "about the same as the Ridgid 700" (which is $1400) again sorry we could not provide more & better info at this time but we will have all the info, pricing, pre-sale up and hopefully some solid testing data by early June.

So let me get this straight. Your gonna sit there and tell me that your gonna sell me a cordless battery operated threader. Then under the same breath your gonna tell me that I have to have power to keep the batteries on charge all day to keep the thing running. So with that said, wouldn’t it be easier if I just kept the 700 and not have to worry about changing batteries, especially when they die in the middle of a thread.
