We need to scream the demand for comfort from the rooftops! I've been on the Pro and I'm still perfectly happy with it. I don't care how much they upgrade the visuals, if I can't stand wearing it for more than 30 minutes then forget it. Total dealbreaker.

Fresnel, pronounced "freh-nel." And the IPD adjustment is physically controlled on all versions of the Quest. The Q3 just has a smooth dial instead of three hard stop positions.

As someone who started with and still has an Oculus Rift S, the Quest 3 S will likely be my next headset. I’m ok with 300 and less storage as I don’t use VR more than a handful of times each month. Thanks for the coverage Wolf!

@JohnnyNoPockets They were already making a loss and don't expect to make profit until 2030, so at this point it was already about building a user base at a loss whilst finding out what an average customer is willing to pay. However, now users know they're willing to drop the price a year after launch, they'll have fewer early adopters, or, will always have to sell at this more affordable lower price point. Fewer early adopters means less interest in new tech from developers. Unless of course, meta buy them all up, which sucks for the end user. N.B. not sure why you felt the need to be a snarky little dick about it.

That's me. Planning on a Q3 for the holidays, not to replace my PCVR HMD, but for the standalone stuff, and for some in-home cross-platform multiplayer for the games that support that (Walkabout Mini Golf, Demeo, etc.). Hoping there'll be a good game bundled with it around the holidays.

The 128gb Quest 3 will now be $400 and the new Quest 3s with the fresnel lenses will be $300.I definitely wouldn’t have waited for the 3s with fresnel lenses 😂.I have no interest in the 3s but I’m glad Meta made it.hopefully it will sell good and developers will leave the Quest 2 in the past.I want to see them push Quest 3 to its limits and that is less likely to happen when devs are focused on catering to the massive player base of the Quest 2.hopefully the 3s will push Quest 2 owners to upgrade.it’s a lot easier for people to come up with $300 than it is for them to come up with $500.that’s the only thing that makes me excited about the release of Quest 3s,I will never own one myself

This will sell. The q3 is great and better than the q2 in every way. But its a huge prive jump for lenses. great entry setup or even upgrade from q2.q3 is like an enthusiast set.

diving deep into theories here but they probably realized that a proper Q4 will be significantly more expensive than the Q3 (something like $700, I guess) but they also know that a lot of people wont pay that. So they try to find out whether people also accept a stripped down version if it has a lower price. So you could say its a re-introduction of the QuestPro-Line but instead of putting a high end version on top of the price list, they introduce it from the bottom by improving the "standard version" and offering a cheaper alternative. Sounds like a smart marketing strategy to me but it's just a theory A GAME THEORY

Well if you are too broke to get a VR2 (hands down the best VR now you can use it on PC too) for 399 and an adapter for your PC or you don't have a PC or you don't have a ps5 and VR2. You probably should not get into VR anyway. Because the quests look like cartoon graphics. The VR2 looks real. And now Hitman is coming to VR2 on ps5, it will look more real than it ever has. Be less buggy, too, because they will now fix the Hitman bugs. That's unfortunate, though. I liked seeing guys you were choking fly in the air. Cheap VRs are cheap VRs. It's not virtual reality. It's virtual cartoons. But some people might be into that. If you want the be graphics. Get the ps vr2 with adapter with PC. That real looking VR.

It will have a spacer for glasses you can use that comes with it. Also, do you mean the original quest? If so, then yes it will be an upgrade from that.

I have a Quest 2 and a Gaming PC and play almost only PCVR with my Quest 2 because stand-alone graphics are less than standard for me, and it wouldn't make any sense to upgrade from a Quest 2 to Quest 3 if I'm mostly playing PCVR games. That upgrade would only be beneficial to those love stand-alone games. For me, I'd rather wait for a Quest 4 as that would be a more worthy upgrade for me. For Quest 2 users who are thinking of upgrading to a 3S, why would you pay hundreds of dollars to get the same resolution and lenses? That wouldn't even make sense. Why not just add a hundred dollars and get a Quest 3 which has better lenses than the 3S? I think the 3S only makes sense for people that are new to VR.

Thats the unfortunate truth of tech, it's always getting better, and you can only produce so many makes and models with available resources, and can only store oh so many units to be bought. Especially a VR headset, which is a low traffic item that doesn't have that many buyers.

Seems like Facebook is shooting itself in the foot every other headset. They can take the hit though, and maybe adopting Microsoft strategy of every other OS being good, and Evey other OS being experimental and a learning experience.
