Real. It will legit freak you out. My first "bad" wreck in VR was my fault. I spun out and was in the middle of the circuit. I look to my left and BAM a dude t-bones me. I audibly yelped like it was happening IRL.

Way back when, even with the low res, crappy controllers and constantly drifting tracking of the original PSVR1, playing Resident Evil 7 "Biohazard" there were times when... I won't say I screamed, but there were some very audible gasps! VR is just freaking amazing. I feel kind of sorry for folks who think they know what it is, but haven't actually experienced it.

if you think about it. A helmet usually weighs about 1.5kg. So the 800g of the headset makes the sim racing more realistic

I love that you are diving into VR more as a VR lover as it's normally covered by smaller channels. I only have a Quest 3 but interested in getting a higher end PCVR headset within the next 6-12 months. Definitely keep up the coverage!

6K at 16:9 is 5760 x 3240. 8K at 16:9 is 7680 x 4320. 5760 x 5760 = 33 177 600 pixels. 7680 x 4320 = 33 177 600 pixels. 11520 x 5760 = 66 533 200 pixels. 66 533 200 pixels on your face would be a groundbreaking experience! Then again, it isn't OLED. 😝 We shall see what Pimax shall cook up with its Mini-LED panel! Also: 4K at 16:9 is 3840 x 2160. 3840 x 3840 = 14 745 600 pixels. 7680 x 3840 = 29 491 200 pixels. Almost 30 million pixel on your face at 120hz would be quite the challenge for a PC, or particularly a laptop. Notably, the vast majority of VR users don't connect their headsets to a laptop, lol.

Pimax is about to release their pimax super with a resolution of 3840x3840. With a ppd (pixel per degree) of 57 which means that that you can almost not see any pixels any more (humans have a ppd of around 60)

The Bigscreen Beyond's FOV and sweet spot size depend a lot on how far your eyes ended up from the lenses after the flaky apple phone scan. IPD and eye relief distance NEED to be adjustable.

Yep have crystel light for a few weeks now and it is awesome. Was a bit to close to my eyes so had to mod it with a kit to make the facepad a few mm thicker, now it's perfect. Use it for AMS2, Dirt Rally 2 and now EA sports WRC.

Honestly think the Quest 3 only needs a few upgrades before it's more or less perfect, namely wider FOV (or a different facial interface to allow it to float in front of your face like the Quest Pro but with some way of blocking out the light bleed), OLED screens and the option for Displayport connection (the wireless functionality is incredible but would be nice to have the option of being tethered with no compression). Of course higher res etc. would be nice too. If they can keep it at around the same $500 mark it could really start to bring VR into the mainstream because what it's really lacking atm is real VR AAA games as there are so few.

A big mistake when reviewing a VR for a test is playing a circuit based racing game. Dont get me wrong they will look fantastic. But the true VR experience imo is Rally, when you go through a forest and you feel the depth of your surroundings like trees or crowds. Sweden and you feel claustrophobic from all the pilled up snow all around you. Truly a far better test for VR to see how well it works. Give it a try :) Great video as always!

The future of VR should use there resolutions while having eye tracking for foveated rendering, this would stop such powerful cards like your 4080 from struggling on keeping up with the framerate, and instead you'd get full resolution only where you're looking at, freeing a ton of resources for the gpu
