Excellent bud, this is something I should have been working on a long time ago. I don't ever see anyone talking about this idea. Thanks, I have always felt a little uncomfortable about the idea of playing with someone else without knowing this aspect of backup.

Fantastic lesson! Its a real art to sing and play backup and licks at the same time...something I've yet to master! Hope your voice gets better! 🙂👍

Perfect Timing! I am working on my backup playing lately and now there is a video from my favorite teacher about it. Great to get some more ideas since i think a solid backup is harder than playing lead and there is less information about it. Looking forward to every new Video from you! Greetings from Germany!

I've stayed healthy, with no dread diseases (at least so far)... Just my voice comes and goes, largely, I think, depending on how loudly I talk every day into my computer monitor.

Love this channel and really want to learn - do you play an open or closed back banjo?
@williamanesbitt2 жыл бұрын
It's a resonator banjo, made from mostly Gibson and old Kalamazoo parts.

So, you're saying this will work for other songs (in the same key and progression)?
@williamanesbitt2 жыл бұрын
Correct. In fast the next video I just uploaded (Will the Circle) uses some of these same licks.

What happened to your voice?

Mostly online lessons... even if I'm careful I still find myself yelling at the computer.
