Is there a quick, easy way to balance the color on an existing foundation? I clean headstones and I'm looking for a way to clean up splotchy concrete foundations of the headstones. Some of them just need a color balance. I want them to look as natural as possible. Would this powder cement that you mentioned, work for something like this?

Straight acryl60 is even better than just diluted acrylic in your paint mix. Superior bond, reduced porosity, and durability. Sealing with silane is even better afterwards. I would also add to your video to make sure that the steps are wet cured after setting. Like stucco, I keep it moist for at least 24 hours.

The diamond cup you are using is for grinding, but if you have paints, adhesives, or other polymers on the surface, it's just going to smear them around--potentially deeper into the surface. There's another accessory you can use with the same rotary tool--it's called Diamabrush, and looks like row of putty knives set at a 45deg angle. There's a KZbin video that shows a comparison between the two, and it's about 4-5X more effective in this scenario.

Another way you could probably have gone with this is to use your grinder on the horizontal/up faces to a CSP 2 (Concrete Surface Profile), and then choose a self-leveling epoxy, with traction/non-slip additive like aluminum oxide. That would have gotten you a lot closer to a smooth/mirror finish, and it potentially it would withstand water corrosion longer.

I don't have any cracks or texture issues with my 12 by 12 concrete patio, it is just dirty. It has stains on it. I do not want to mess with a power washer because it's a pain in the butt and I don't want to use concrete paint because it will eventually paint and I'm lazy and don't want to do the prep work. It seems like there is no prep work for this over than lightly misting the existing concrete. Is this an ok idea to use this to just get rid of stains and make the concrete look refreshed and new again? I would think think it would be thick enough so that the stains would not be seen through it? I don't want prep work and this seems like a way to get away with not prepping anything. Thoughts? Your project looks fantastic!

You forgot to spray paint on it to seal it, preferably silane, but paint works. Your coat will have 5% strength because it only reacted for 5% strength. You want it to react completely for 100% strength, Paint over it with either clear coat or silane, or any cheapo paint, leave it there for a year.

What is overlay? Will it last longer? My mom's porch has a whole 3ft diameter area that cracked off from the center. A professional 'fixed' it and painted it 10 years ago & now the paint is peeling in that spot it's failing / sunken crumbling away there. So I think I should sand off all paint and smooth w a diamond wheel grinder he mentioned then use the same stuff mortar mix (liquidy) to build it up then resurface. The porch is huge. 15x 7ft. I want to do it cheap but would love it 2 last another 10 years. 🤣. Any better ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks for the tip. Hopefully getting the video out soon on a new product that I’m trying out instead of Portland cement. Will attach video when I get it done.

@@handylandlord Portland cement makes a great cheap bonding agent also .All you do is take portland and add lots of water and make it into the consistency of paint and wet the surface with a sprayer after cleaning of course and paint it on before applying cement .That works great as an old school bonding agent . But like i said really no need with rapid set but regular concrete bonding to old concrete works great .Good luck with your project and P..S Watch all of Mike Haduck video's he's a great cement guy .I learned a lot watching that guy .

kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2nbp4BqoKx1l6s Yes I agree. I had some areas failed. After watching the video again I see that some areas dried out as I was working. Thanks for the tip

Would a bitumen paint work ? It might last longer. Or you could tile the top. Its only a small area. I have a large concrete driveway , so might try this. Have used cement water thick mix for deeper holes ( it lasts long time ) but dont know about small surface pitting

Would this work on a driveway or would it crack? My driveway roughly 30 x 20, I want to resurface Was wondering if I can just do the step of applying concrete and the bond

You can apply a resurfacer product or an overlayment but that’s going to vary on different factors like the condition of your driveway slab. If it’s good without major cracking , sinking/settling you can do as I said, but if it’s in bad conditions I think it’s better and more beneficial for you to replace your slab

so if you cant get all the paint off you can refinish over it with this?
@handylandlord
@handylandlord 3 жыл бұрын
Within reason I think you can refinish over it, but it depends on how much paint is on the surface. I would try to grind off as much as you can. Here is video I did on removing paint from my concrete patio. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2mYl4uCaM-Uqs0 Good luck on your project.

Looks like a rough ass job. Won't look too pretty when those bristle markings show up when dry. What's wrong with using a float.
