De La Hoya didn't win every big fight but what made him one of the greats is that he fought everyone he could and did not duck anyone. He fought Chavez, Whitaker, Quartey, Trinidad, Mayweather, Vargas was dangerous then, Hopkins even Pacquaio when he really didn't need to as Pac Man was the man and Oscar was just about done with his career.

Crawford couldn't have fought already because Spence waited 6 months later, to announce that the rematch would not be happening because of his cataract surgery. For those 6 months Crawford had to honor the rematch clause, up until Errol informed us about his surgery. Now you can say Crawford has been inactive for 3 months since Spence' announcement, but not the first 6 months. That 6 month inactive period for Crawford was unfortunate but it was out of his control. Maybe Spence could've had the surgery a lot sooner than 6 months after the fight.
