Take a boat, use knock back potion 1 or 2, disembark and then use glider. For it to achieve maximum effect, the knock back potion must be used first person. Speed potions while using the boat could help increase the speed. Managed to travel 2000 blocks with this and it is possible to continue flying, just use more knockback potions.
