I think I mentioned it before, but as for dessert beans, check out Chinese (or maybe Japanese?) black bean donuts and their cousins with other kinds of beans in them. They are basically rice cakes with sweet bean paste in them. They are one of my favorite snacks, as they have no dairy or wheat in them, and they are squishy! You can get them in Asian markets sometimes, or Chinese bakeries.
