Hangar 9 fun scale PT-19 UNBOX and ASSEMBLY

Just got the brand new PT-19 from Hangar 9. Quick unbox and assembly of my first ever PNP balsa plane. Sweet bird, can't wait to get it in the air.

I have the 2017 kit, just did the wings yesterday, had some shaping to do on the servo holes, then I used a "Z" bend at the servo arm for the control rod vs the "L" bend and clip method they used, But what's not mentioned in the instructions is the landing gear angle, if they aren't correct side to side then not only are the wheels 1" back they are also toed out so it is very critical to get them on the correct side, THANK YOU FOR THAT BIT OF INFO !!!!

Nice vid!! This kit is a refurb of the 2017 Great Planes PT-19 (GPMA1212). Minus the tail-wheel compartment and a modified motor mount to accept a brushless outrunner, the model is identical. It's nice to know that one can order replacement items for the GP that's since been discontinued. I inherited the original 2017 ARF from a friend earlier this year. It's a great flyer and I get many compliments on its inflight characteristics. Glad you made this review, but remind viewers that the wing halves are to be cemented as one piece, not two.

Thanks, that what I thought as I was putting it together, but I never had the Great Planes one so I wasn't sure if this was an update or all new. Glad to see they updated it and brought back a classic plane. I hope they do it with more "classic" Great Planes models. Love having more wood ARF/PNPs to choose from. And you aren't kidding, it flies so nice! Such a wonderful, everyday plane. It will be one of my regulars I am sure.

Its instructions say nothing about gluing wing halfs.

@@obtv6827 yeah the old Great Planes version did not have a wing tube, so it had to be glued together for strength. Not needed with the newer Hangar 9 version. I've been ripping mine on 6S with no issues.

Hi - enjoyed the build video. Would like to pick up one of these. We only have a grass runway- trying to figure out if it will constantly flip over on takeoffs and landings- would you happen to know the diameter of the wheel and whether it would be feasible to put a larger wheel on it?

Hi, thanks. The plane comes with 2.5" or 65MM wheels. If you install the optional retracts, there is very little room to install bigger wheels. But if you go with the included fixed gear, it would be very easy to use bigger wheels for grass.

Totally agree. I think they updated the old Great Planes one. It was so easy to assemble even with the shipping damage. Did yours have any or was I just unlucky? Waiting for the rain to stop so I can maiden it!

maybe someday they'll offer an PNP with a nice little 4-stroke. That would be perfect on this plane.

@@TheDornado I totally agree with you. Fourstrokes are my favourite and I've never had a pt19 before. This plane would be perfect for it as I love Hangar 9 Planes. Thanks for sharing this . Enjoyed watching it. Nice plane.
