Great video, thanks. The background music was quite distracting I must say however.

You can put the wood back on. I have used not one but two layers of edge banding to build up inset doors. Worked for me. Playing cards are the bomb. I also make and install the shelve so the door don't fall in.

Perfect. How does this work when gravity isn't on your side? I have the cabinets installed already.
@escamillawoodworking3 жыл бұрын
It is a bit tougher when the cabinets are upright, but you can still use the playing cards to shim the doors and set their offsets. Just make sure you have some kind of temporary handle on the door (painters tape works well) so they don't get suck in the cabinet!

How about 1/16” or 1/8” horseshoe tiling spacers. You could hang them on a nail or something and they wouldn’t fall in. Micro adjust with little strips of duct tape on the edge of the door or face frame.

That's not a bad idea! That's what I love about this kind of "hack" is that works with just about anything you have on hand. Thanks for the tip!

How do you mark the doors for the hinges
@escamillawoodworking3 жыл бұрын
A few different ways, but the easiest is just to hold the hinge right up to the door where you want it and lightly make a mark on either side of the hinge with a knife. Then you can extend those marks with a square to get your cut lines. Hope that helps!

I really like your videos and I love your self-described geekness as your solutions to problems is awesome. The only thing I don't like about your videos is the background music - it's distracting and totally unnecessary as your description of what you're doing is really really informational. Great video and THANK YOU.

Is the side facing up the inside of the cabinet/backside of the door? If not, how do you setup your hardware once spacing done?
@escamillawoodworking Жыл бұрын
The side facing up is the outside/showside of the door. Once you have the spacing right, you can make the marks for the hardware, remove the doors, and then use a square to transfer all the marks around the edges of the doors and frames. Hope this helps!

What’s with the camera always focusing on something else but the object that you wanted to show?

Hey, thanks for the comment! So, you're not the first one to bring this up...apparently that upset a number of people haha. You'll be happy to know that in the 4 years since this video was published I have learned from my mistakes. I hope you enjoy my newer (hopefully less distracting) content!
