Nice video. My cabinet door and hinge weren't exactly the same, but you answered some questions I had. I like your hinge template idea for predrilling holes.

Great explanation of how to install, thank you. I'm trying to flush mount metal doors (20" tall by 32" wide by 1" thick square tubing with sheet metal exterior face) for a cargo box on my truck. I don't want to see the hinges. Is there a hinge available for my application?

Thank you. Honestly I haven’t built something like that (would love that for my truck). I would suggest talking to the dude at Lowe’s or HD maybe? I would think something a little on the commercial side would be appropriate given it will be used outside and on the truck. If I come across something, I’ll let you know.

I'm surprised you are not using a forstner bit template such as the Kreg one. It'd make life easier quite a lot.

I have a drill press in my shop I used for the doors. Kreg jigs are awesome, but they’re so expensive! I don’t build that many cabinets, but will definitely consider it, if Instart building more furniture.
@kappabravomusic21012 ай бұрын
@@TrueGritDevelopment well actually a mobile kreg jig is under 50$ so it's not bad actually. Of course if you have a workshop where you build furniture you'd cut those hinges holes there with the drill press with most likely default settings. However I'm just talking about mobile situations.

This video was beneficial, I bought the same hinges and they’re supposed to be for frameless cabinets but this is an excellent tip to make them work with framed cabinets. The only thing I don’t get is why the hinges for framed cabinets are insanely expensive compared to these 🤔. Anyways... Thanks for the video. It is very helpful 😊

Glad it was helpful! I buy all my hinges from Amazon, it’s so much cheaper than Lowe’s or Home Depot.

The inset hinges for framed cabinets attach to the back of the face frame. It's a much larger mounting plate, it also puts all the stress from the door onto the face frame instead of the body of the cabinet. Cabinet parts suppliers are usually much cheaper than Amazon for name brand glides and hinges like Blum.

Great. now I want to install a drawer inside the cabinet. but these inset hinges are making the door block the channels to come out. Any other type of hinge that is used for inset doot but also opens the door flush with carcus?
@TrueGritDevelopment5 ай бұрын
Yes, I would say they’re the ones you use for a lazy Susan cabinet. I haven’t installed these. Is this what you’re looking for: a.co/d/b1rmFrc

@@TrueGritDevelopment Thanks for the Reply. I found it when I searched. But the hinge I'm looking for is for Inset type door and this one says overlay type. I don't think they make such concealed hinges.

These maybe a.co/d/6EXQSWV
@developpa15195 ай бұрын
@@TrueGritDevelopment this does say inset on the product title but reviewers say it's for half overlay and not for inset door. So once installed using a spacer to act as inset, it does not clear the space for the drawer movement. I think I'll have to give up on it.

That sucks. Maybe go into a furniture store and inspect or look online for furniture and find out what they used. Good luck

Does it leave space between the door and cupboard if no frames are used ? Also , how can I avoid those spaces..insects infestation might happen later
@TrueGritDevelopment2 ай бұрын
Do you mean whether the hinge in the closed position leaves space? If so, the answer is no. You always want to leave about 1/8” space all around for the door to open/shut freely.
