Just realized how hard working you are after listening to your podcast, It motivated me very much. And I strongly believe you will become GM before 9 years . Believe me you will do it and then we will celebrate together 🍕🍾

Played your line that you suggested as black that turns into the hippopotamus. Ended up crushing him with a nice pawn break and some good tactics! Worked well even for a 900 level player. Keep up the great vids bro

Thank you, Hanging Pawns, for your KZbin content. Keep it up! I listened to your interview on PC Podcast, and I wish you the best to your road to GM! I'll be using your videos for references to my students. I have one in particular, rated 1350, who wants to play Tiger's Modern, and we're going to study that book together. Thank you again for your content!

Thank you for the kind words Daniel:) I really appreciate the support! PS. make sure to get the new edition of the Modern Tiger. He improved on several lines in it.

Very instructive sir! I'd love to see some theory on the Petrov Defense after you have showed us some games of Caruana last year!

After I have finished the Modern, the Alekhine is next and then the Petroff. So it's coming soon:)

I often play the modern without knowing the exact theory, which usually leads me into a serious trouble quite fast. :D
@anthonydejesus17812 жыл бұрын
same, I'm new to chess and i've committed to playing modern defnece and attack. i guess the idea is that I can't compete against people that have played traditionally for hundreds of hours unless i play for hundreds too. but hopefully if i do modern i can only play for only 10 or 20 hours before i'm more comfortable with the board than my opponent. I know it's a steeper learning curve but hopefully I can get better faster than if I do the same thing as everyone else. i'm not tryna be a GM or anything i just want to win some blitz games lol.

Hi Stjepan! First of all, thanks a lot for the content! I find myself starting to build up an opening repertoire (I feel way less fancy about it than how nice it sounds). With black I'm trying the KID / modern / Pirc. I'm watching videos, playing games, going back to videos etc. Learning a lot! A suggestion: It would be infinitely useful to have some timestamps on the videos so I can find the different variations more easily.

It seems like i dont have an option in the Pseudo-Austrian Attack after e5. I'd have to decide between Bb7 and c5. From what you've said both variations arent great for black and either one of those lines is pretty much forced for black if white plays that setup.

What do we do in this case: 1. e4 g6 2. d4 Bg7 3. Nc3 d6 4. Nf3 a6 5. e5 -- Do I still move b5?
@BorisDankov2 жыл бұрын
Well the rule of thumb in the modern is that e5 is met with c5, after which black is ussualy completely fine

“He pondered for ten years.” Yeah that just doesn’t happen anymore. If a GM thinks of a novel move and want to know if it’s playable they can just check with an engine. If it’s not a huge blunder or mistake then that’s a good clue of whether or not it’s playable.
Nice video! But I don't believe in hippo to much and I don't want to play pirc so are there any other systems after 4.Nf3? And another question why 3.Nc3? Why not 3.Nf3? And last question :) in main line after 4.Be3 a6 what about a4?Thank you for answers
@masterxd97592 жыл бұрын
i feel like a4 is a problem after a6 always because you have to play b6 and transpose into a hippo which i dont like at all

Could you give a course outline on the order you would recommend a teenage intermediate student to view your videos in?
@HangingPawns5 жыл бұрын
Hmm. I would recommend you to choose one opening series. Perhaps the Ruy or the Italian could be good to start and pick up a few books on it to along with the videos. Play some practice games as well. And go over the middlegame videos too. I am still to cover most of the middlegame and the endgames (which would be useful to start with), but for now this is the best order. Any game analysis videos you manage to watch will be a bonus. Those are always useful. Hope I managed:)

Why Do you show most of the variations from the white side? Modern defence is an opening for black....
@chessticulate Жыл бұрын
Because Stepan isn't planning to play the opening as black, he is preparing to beat it with white.

At 14:14 already down exchange & now a pinned knight there's no way most of us who are club players could use this line to our advantage. Sorry but total rubbish.
