I'm a 1924 rated player that comfortably play the alekhine sometimes against titled players, I would feel very uncomfortable trading the d pawn for the c pawn in the "Alekhine System". It is now very hard to take over the center using the pressure on the e pawn. and the knight on b6 is really misplaced, without the pressure on the c4 pawn, and support a d5 break. It look much more like a Grunfeld System to be honest. It does not play like an Alekhine at all.

Hey Stjepan, I have learnt a lot from your videos and really appreciate them. I have gone through your 1.e4 series and it is quite amazing. But can you please do a series on Vienna Game. I tried to make out some theory using GM games and engine but there is no solid results. The Games played by GM differ too much and the Engines are not much reliable either. Thank You

Dear Stjephan, I love your videos's, keep up the good work. However I'm a bit puzzled with the selection of lines sometimes. For example you show some extremely rare lines (like the one that was never played). At other points you skip over big variations (For example: 1.d4 d5 2.c4 dxc 3.e4 c5 4. d5 e6 5.Nc3! ). Now I don't necessarily mind, because I need to analyse myself anyway and I will certainly still watch. But I wonder how you choose which lines to show, if not just by popularity? A bit of your own taste is good I suppose but that doesnt always seem to be the case..? Anyway don't take it too critical, love your work!

11:22 is a6 possible instead of a5 where white have the chance to have double a pawns and not rushing the bishop to take the knight and if he plays anything else I go ne7 to replace the knight on next move if needed or king side castle

I’d love to see your game where the rook is sacrificed after b5. It seems so bad to me, I have trouble seeing how it could be worth it!

I'll take black in the modern variation. As an amateur playing queen vs rook and a knight would be much easier. Especially if I can tradeoff the bishops...

sorry if this seems like a dumb question, but after winning the night at 17:00, can't white play b4 or ne2 to give an escape square for their queen?
@goatkoala573

Yes possible, could go something like this: B4 B6 - Qa3 a5 - Qb2 axb4 - Uh, and I forgot what I was going, I went to sleep

The engine says na4 is the best move, and as far as I remember you somehow give up the knight. Going ne2 gets you in a lot of trouble.
@bita_smietana1517
@bita_smietana1517 Жыл бұрын
Nd1 is a tiny bit better but black gets a lot of compensation for the piece. It's better for white to go 10. Na4, and give it back after black goes Qe7 threatening Bc4+ winning the queen, 11. Bc5 defending, b6, 12. Bxd6 Qxd6 13. Qc3 Bxa4 capturing the knight back 14. Qxc4 capturing the pawn, and defending the hanging pawn on e4. This is what gives me lichess cloud engine on my phone. Black is -0,2. Also after trying to save the piece by moving your knight to d8 you lose your e4 pawn right away, and then black with the knight on e4 threatens to win your queen which now has no squares, and you have to play b4, black plays Qe7 threatening to win your queen by Bc4+, so you have to play Rb1, and then black plays b5, it's -1,5 despite being up a piece. Black has much more active pieces, and a passed pawn, white has problem developing, their queen is misplaced, their king is unsafe. After Nb1 trying to rescue the queen black won all 4 games on lichess, after Ne2 one game was drawn, also there is one game after Nb1 and one game after Ne2 in the masters database both won by black. Trying to move the night to e2, b1 or d1 is just bad, of course the line I mentioned has never been played but if someone wonders like I did why it's bad to try and rescue the queen other ways than Na4 giving the knight back, then there's the answer.

What about 3...e6? Lichess shows that as the most common reply, at least in my rating range.

It’s just a bad move I used to play the qga central and nearly everytime they played e6 they are trying to pin your queen’s knight which can be countered by the simple Bd3 protecting the e4 pawn and as a bonus it can set up for a greek gift sacrifice or if you’re particularly lower rated the enemy’s queen might take your pawn in which case Bb5 checks the king and wins the queen

At 9.06: What is wrong with Qh5 g6, Nxg6 Nf6, is this not advantage to black?
@xFlRSTx
@xFlRSTx 3 жыл бұрын
queen can just slide back and keep the pin on the h file, its still a good move cause its free tempi and gets rid of the pin on the king but blacks king is still naked and his rook is still attacked
