I grew up in Texas and have been terrified of all snakes for as long as I can remember. This is the first video I’ve been able to watch about snakes, thanks for presenting Daisy in such a calm and sweet manner! Really made it more accessible :)

It would be really cool to have a hide or two attached to the wall! I'm sure she's got some cover on the ground but a hide for such a large snake would provide a cool climbing platform as well as a sense of security.

@MeganKugs4 жыл бұрын
She actually put up a video not too long ago about how they’re coping. I’d definitely recommend it but she talked about how the volunteers and her videographer aren’t there for the time being and how it’s just her and Augusto holding down the fort and doing all the animal care but they’re managing very well. They also had to postpone or cancel all of their presentations at school and such of course and how much she’s missing that part of things. Overall they seem to be doing extremely well and are still providing absolutely everything each of the animals needs and the three humans they take care of as well of course :). Like I said I’d really recommend watching that video but I hoped I helped answer your question a bit.

Has she ever seen any potential pray during her crawls outside? How do you and she deal with that?
@animalwondersmontana4 жыл бұрын
She's never come close to something she'd consider prey. She's a pretty picky eater, so my guess is that unless she was incredibly hungry, she'd ignore or avoid the prey.

how much does daisy weigh? do snakes like being petted?
@animalwondersmontana4 жыл бұрын
She weighs about 30lbs. There haven't been amy studies confirming snakes enjoy certain interactions, so the best way to determine if you should continue doing an action like petting is if the snake doesn't move away to avoid the touch or react with defensive communication. Basically, if they tolerate the interaction then it's fine to continue doing it

they say Montana is cold....I wish Canada was that "cool" lol
@ragnkja4 жыл бұрын
Based on what I’ve heard, Montana has a typical “inland climate”, with cold winters and hot summers. Coastal climate, which is what I have in my home village in northern Norway, tends to have milder, wetter winters and cooler summers, because the ocean stabilises the seasons and makes them less distinct.

Are boa constrictors a type of python?
@animalwondersmontana4 жыл бұрын
They are part of a group of snakes called boas. Boas don't lay eggs like other snakes, instead they retain their eggs inside and the babies hatch inside mom and then crawl out fully active and able to survive on their own. Pythons are a different group and one distinguishing feature is their heat pits located just under their nostrils.
@sairbear4444 жыл бұрын
AnimalWonders Montana cool! Is that viviparous? Like garter snakes??
@animalwondersmontana4 жыл бұрын
@@sairbear444 Viviparous is the way most mammals give birth when the baby develops inside the mother without an egg. Oviparous is egg laying. Boas and garter snakes are ovoviviparous, hatching from eggs inside the mother.
