George lived the fullest life. At least he had fun 🤩

This is treasure. Hank Cochran is a big part of traditional country music. Him and Dean Dillon from a songwriting standpoint.

Truth, brother! An honor to know and work with Hank putting this together. More influential to country music than will ever be known!

Oddly, old Hank’s story is perfectly believable. God bless Hank and the old possum.

My favorite country music singer, George Jones ... He was a wild man at times. Lol .

I had two encounters with George, one when our band was sound checking at the Hall of fame hotel in Nashville, around noon, and George came in and ordered a mixed drink (no really?) and I went into the "Grand Tour" in his honor, and George said "That guy is better than me today" You know George was "in voice" about half the time so---The next encounter was in Mobile , George was SUPPOSED to be in concert in Gulfport/Biloxi but was a "NO SHOW". He checked in at the I65 Holiday Inn, and the girls there knew me, called me at the Blue Jay Lounge where I was playing, and I went over to see George, got a picture of George and me with two gals who worked the Holiday Inn; Lying in bed! LOL We did some singing then too, and I went back after my Gig and George had locked people out, those girls would not leave him alone. George drove a Chevy S10 with a "I love Country Music" tag on the front. I was really glad when George quit drinking. It made him the wild Man. RIP George my Hero, (& MERLE)

'You combed her hair'... was MY MaMas favorite GJ song. MaMa turned me on to George in 1965 with ALL those albums she played when I came home from school. I still have mamas album where he sang with Melba Montgomery. Man, what a GREAT duet on ALL those songs there!!

We never would! I, personally, think that "Chiseled in Stone" is the best country song ever written and Vern sang it better than anyone else could!

Thats an awesome story but I have questions that you didn't answer. Who was the guy the hit you?, Why did he hit you?, How long did you stay under the table? Did anyone try come to your aid?, Where the cops called?, Did you ever get your coffee?, What happened next?. So many questions......
