Hank Jones is perhaps one the finest lyrical pianist in jazz. His playing is sublime and effortless. Superb musicianship. His syncopation is superb.

Agrreed. Completely! I had a feeling he was never going to die. That he was going to carry on running his nimble loving fingers over those keys forever. But we have some much of the wonderful playing he managed during his lifetime to enjoy. Hope he's enjoying his gig up there...

Just beautiful. 14:50 love this moment when both men are just in awe. Hank says it all. “Bravo”. We are blessed to have these recordings today!

This concert was held in 1996 in Kobe, Japan, where big earthquake hit in January 1995 (Great Hanshin Earthquake). The city was completely destroyed. More than 6400 people were killed and a lot people lost houses. I think this concert by Hank, Ron and other musicians soothed the hearts of Jazz fans in Kobe, as they were still trying to recover from the damages. Twenty six years have passed since then, but as one of the citizens during that time, I want to thank again those great Jazz players for coming to Kobe.

I never got to see the Great Hank Jones but did see Ron Carter w/a great Vibes player whose nickname was "Bags". I had a good friend Anita Ruiz to thank for even knowing their greatness. Anita, I affectionately called "O'Day" after the great Jazz artist. Anita had 'non-electric recordings, original White Album (never known as that). So many incredible performances Anita turned me on to. RIP O'Day. Thank you for showing me the way to the Great Ones!

Over 40 years ago, I've took a picture of Ron Carter who playing bass as one of the V.S.O.P. Quintet members at the Denen Coliseum in Tokyo. The other performers were, Herbie Hancock, Freddie Hubbard, Wayne Shorter, Tony Williams. I was photographer then. Just nostalgic.

Hank Jones & Ron Carter.
I keep returning for “it’s alright with me”. Such a good version :)

WOW! 👏🏽 This is so splendid. It reminds me of hearing these gentlemen in the '90s at the long gone and sorely missed Bradley's club in NYC. That was a prime piano solo/bass & piano/piano trio room back then. Such elegant creativity and dialogue between these giants.

I had the privilege of having going to a show by the Hank Jones trio in Lisbon Portugal. Hank was walked to the piano assisted by other man, and when he put his hands on the keyboard it was magic. It looked as if the Spring of music has blossom in the first chord. Now that he passed the way and left his recorded work for us to enjoy, I'm certain that he's playing for God.
