I love Hank's attitude. He doesn't give a shit what anyone thinks of him, his songs or how he presents himself and he is still one of the most famous artists in country music. He is a Conservative and isn't afraid to toot his Conservative horn, he is anti-establishment and that kind of attitude is something we ALL should have these days and we shouldn't be afraid to voice our opinions on any issues without fear of censorship or cancellation. Who cares about the Grand ole Opry anyway? I never could understand what the big prestige of being a member of that was for these artists..... Big deal.....

First record I remember my dad buying was LUKE THE DRIFTER; a great education on how to look at life and the people in the world. Hank Jr is about 10 years my senior, so I remember him starting out. Remember hearing about how people put him down, "You'll never as good as your daddy," and I took offense! His dad named him and people should have respected that. Bocefus could deliver those songs with a very similar voice but in his own style. His own early recordings are my favorites of all his works. Decent actor, too. Midnight in Montgomery by Alan Jackson took me to a place. In 1981 I was stationed at Maxwell AFB and the morning before dawn of September 17th of that year I went up the hill to pay respects. A vase of flowers, the card signed simply "Bocefus" was on his grave. I knew it had to be a personal delivery because of who he is. Someone might have claimed a souvenir, but I couldn't touch it. Too much respect for both.

When that song came out in 1979,(I was in High School) my School Bus was stopped letting kids off on a 2 lane Country Highway and a Convertible behind us with the Top down, had "Family Tradition" blasting. I hitchhiked about 7 Miles to a Peaches Records Store and bought the 45,and later that year-Christmas 1979,my parents bought me the 45-Whiskey Bent Hell Bound/OD'd in Denver, along with a Merle Haggard 8-Track of "Back to the Barrooms".

I don't listen to much country but a hank is definitely one of those that I do listen to. I also love Marshall Tucker in the Allman Brothers. he was such a hell razor back in the day and it seems like he hasn't lost any of that

All Hank fans should bomb the Opry demanding respect for Hank. Make him an Opry member

I used to listen to WLAC during the nighttime up in Iowa in the early 1970s. They played great music. Great to hear Hank Jr. say he did the same.

I like the man but my Dad went to see him at a concert and he passed out on stage. That was a bummer.

It's really too bad Hank is so shy and you can't get him to open up too much in the interview!!
