For me being 31 in 2021 when somebody ask me if I like country music I always say no but I love hank williams because what they think is country music vs that are two different planets. The tone and sound of hanks recordings is what I love to listen to while going to sleep and when I die I would not mind to hearing his voice into the darkness

So you don't like the 90s and stuff? I was born in 2000 but I love both hanks. Haven't really got into hank 3, but I love all the early country too Marty Robbins, lefty, Willie and Waylon. Grew up wanting to be Johnny cash. Met George Jones and his wife approx 03 north bay ont. May have stole a section of the show with me singing so loud at such a young age lol

I'm the same age as you, I'm from 90' I love Hank, the newest I can go with country is Waylon Jennings. I usually listen to bands like cattle decapitation, meshuggah, modest mouse, rhcp, leftover crack... but when I listen to country, it's old. I hate rap and modern country.

Even now some 75 years after his first songs were put to wax, his lyrics are transcendant of time, trends and tastes.

Great show. What a legend. His songs are timeless. He was a very special talent and a masterful songwriter. I really connect with him because I have a back injury that makes me miserable, daily. There’s nothing worse than long car rides. Poor man. #RIPHankWilliams 🙏🏼

Same here 🙋🏻‍♀️. Lumbar spinal fusion. Worse pain ever. And I’ve had chemo and radiation. I know they didn’t have the same advances we have these days. Poor Hank. 😔What a legend though. 🙏🏼

As a kid who grew up around punk rock. As i got older, i started to appreciate your older country music. Always hated that dogshit you hear on the radio but hank? Yea i can groove to hank.

My daddy was a big fan of Hank & was on his way to see him when he died. He played his music for me constantly, and is the reason I'm a singer still today. Like Waylon said, "It all leads back to him"

This is my favorite Hank biography, I love the interviews. Hank and Audrey were complicated people who were explosive together. They remind me of my grandparents’ relationship, except Audrey never shot Hank.

What made Hank so different, that some just couldn't figure out. Was, he sang like he spoke, with slang. Listen to everyone else with finely polished lyrics. Then listen to Hank and you'll hear the difference.

I really enjoyed hearing, Big Bill Lister singing, " Hank died years before I was born, but I'm a big fan of his. Had I been born during that era, I would have done all I could do see him live, and try to sing with him. wishful thinking. I've been on stages more than anyone can shame a stick at. In fact, I missed my chance. The Judd's manager ( Woody Bowles) was in Ottawa, year ago. After hearing me sing, he asked me to send him a demo so he would remember who I was. He gave me his business card. I panicked and I didn't send one. I still sing and music. But Hank, gotta love him. And Hank Jr too.

He’s been portrayed and misunderstood as an irresponsible drunk; he never was that. A very talented, complex young man who rose to stardom from humble beginnings. The back pain was what I believe ultimately led to his early demise. I was a railroad conductor and survived a head on train crash at 80 mph collision speed but my l1 vertebrae destroyed: I can still walk but the pain is always there some days really bad. I can understand the desperation Hank felt. In addition in 1952 his world fell apart; his wife divorced him limiting time with his son Hank Jr. whom he lived and adored, he was fired from the Opry in august of 52, found out he had a love child he was going to take care of, remarried that October; but unfortunately met the con man named Toby Marshall. He only made Hanks problems worse with forged prescriptions for medications that should never be mixed like that. You can see congestive heart failure in Hanks wedding photos from October of 52. Maybe he could have postponed his new years concerts to focus on rebuilding his health if he would have had a decent real doctor. But it was not to be and New Year’s Day 1953 happened. After being injured with a broken back and reading of Hank’s back pains I have nothing but respect for the man. He is a true American hero, an inspiration, and a cautionary real life example of how your health can take a severe turn for the worse it you don’t have the right care. Yes he was human and had frailties, weaknesses, and shortcomings as we all do but he accomplished so much in a little time on earth. May he be remembered as a great man and musician. And never let him be forgotten.

I know nothing but the legend of Hank as I start watching. I know of his influence on BobDylan who in turn inspired so many others. Just a thought I had myself. If one had to pick the most legendary performer of the 20th century, it would have to be Hank Williams. Part of it was bc he passed away young, drinking, etc. But that something intangible, pure legendary life, has to be the #1 choice.

Can you imagine if Hank had lived to see what happened in this country 10 years or so after he died? Can you imagine Hank Williams alive during the '60s when all the dope, free love, and hate America was going on? Maybe he went because it was his time and he died of a broken heart.

Especially when you take into account, the voices of some of the other female singers. Maybe she didn’t have any stage presence. They do give her credit for taking his career to another level.

I heard Hank had an issue with his back. That he was in a great deal of pain, that he was medicating himself with booze. To bad he let it kill him at 29, to young.
