anorexia is way more than just a weight...I've been in hospital more times than I can count and ended up with tubes shoved down my nose and placed in my intestines. Most people die at normal wts or just underweight when they go to sleep from electrolyte imbalances. I've lost a lot of friends to anorexia and bulimia at all wts.

I remember watching this series, where Hannah developed anorexia. I remember that she made a recovery, and then she left. Rhys died. I think Josh died too... I don't really remember. Watching this now made me cry. I just really feel all the emotions Rhys must've felt.

It's because they didn't want the actress to have to lose weight, and I think that's good, even though it's less convincing from the audience's POV. I think we're supposed to wilfully suspend our disbelief and accept that she's supposed to be underweight inside the story even though the actor isn't, like how we accept that characters are driving in cars on TV even when we can tell it's greenscreened.

It may be an unrealistic portrayal of this exact event but I think it sets a good precedent for movies and TV. People can be underweight and not look it, and even if they're not actually underweight, their eating disorder can put their life in danger. Also, it shows that there are other ways of emphasising the physical consequences of anorexia, apart from just having lingering close-up shots of their bones (which is what they usually do, even in documentaries).
