This young woman is a total joy to watch. I’m becoming more and more of a fan each time I see her play. My favorite thing was after the UConn game when she was asked about just missing out on a triple-double; she said she didn’t know about it and she didn’t care. It didn’t come across as rude at all, but it did come across as 100% sincere. She only wanted to win. Hidalgo is the true college torch-bearer now that Caitlin is a pro, and lucky for us fans we have two more seasons after this one to watch her ply her trade.

@@BIGME-f7c Agree. And it isn't like she singled out Fudd. She stated she just "doesn't think about other players." I really don't get this contrived controversy. Even for contrived social media controversies, this one seems particularly stupid. Regarding the question about Fudd not playing in the UConn game and Hidalgo's reaction to it: do people not understand that ND played that game with only 7 scholarship players available, and one of them -- a starter when healthy -- was just coming off injury and was limited to 10 total minutes off the bench. ND has played most of the season without 2 starters due to injury and almost no bench. The injury bug got so bad they held try outs recently and took on several new walk-on players just to have bodies to rotate in. I'm sorry Fudd missed the ND game, but people pretend like that is the only injury that matters. I hope Fudd gets healthy. I don't want any player injured. But I will say that if ND gets and stays healthy, they are dangerous (they played their most recent game without 3 starters due to injury, only 6 scholarship players available, and with two brand new walk-ons coming off the bench). And I'll add that UConn with a healthy Fudd is also dangerous. Both ND and UConn are good teams. Among the best. Fanning the flames of "rivalry" just seems kind of silly here. There is a place for civility and respect. Even in sports.

Hannah Hidalgo is an absolute star and hands down the most electrifying player in college basketball this season. She’s my pick for Player of the Year. Just look at her insane stat line: • Points per game (PPG): 25.8 • Rebounds per game (RPG): 6.6 • Assists per game (APG): 3.8 • Field goal percentage (FG%): 49.8% • Three-point percentage (3P%): 44.6% • Free throw percentage (FT%): 84.0%

In comparison, Azzi Fudd’s most productive season was her sophomore year (2022-2023) with the UConn Huskies, where she averaged: • Points per game (PPG): 15.1 • Rebounds per game (RPG): 1.9 • Assists per game (APG): 1.9 • Field goal percentage (FG%): 45.6% • Three-point percentage (3P%): 34.0% • Free throw percentage (FT%): 88.2%

Good. Players don't have to fawning around Uconn players and Geno. The media and the WNBA do it already. Hidalgo and her team OWNED them, and I hope they'll do it again.

Yup, Notre Dame dominated UConn this year, and they dominated UConn last year. You can argue that as great as Hidalgo was this year, her game last year at UConn was even better since she put up 34 points in their house with Stewart and Taurasi watching without Olivia Miles.

EVERY TIME that Hannah Hidalgo's name is mentioned, it should be as "5'6" Hannah Hidalgo"! She's already working against gravity and is STILL one of the best performers in the NCAA right now.

U Conn is too controlled. Players like Beucher are being so controlled that their playing looks tight like they're afraid to make a mistake. A player has to be loose, confident and a coach has to allow their stars to assert themselves without being self-conscious. Players like Hildago, Clark, and Watkins look assertive and ready for action without worrying about being perfect.

I am a big Hidalgo fan but this doesn't come across as very genuine when she had a post on her IG about asking what matchups people were excited about and she was responding to a bunch of them. So saying "I don't think about any of these players." Is like okkkk come on.
@SinisterAristotle19 күн бұрын
I think she clearly has a hierarchy of players she especially admires. For example, she was especially positive about Paige and being impressed with a move she did in her last game, and she’s impressed with Kiyomi McMiller from Rutgers. She seemed offended when somebody said she was Rori Harman 2.0 (understandable since they played Texas and Hidalgo torched her) and probably was offended that the commenter was implying that Notre Dame’s recent win over UConn was cheapened because Fudd didn’t play (even though Fudd has only played in 48 games over the past four years and played in the USC game and was meh).
@chrisstrawn339619 күн бұрын
@@SinisterAristotle I think most people have hierarchy's of players (fans and actual players) but she is not a 5 year WNBA vet. In college she might be the best player in the country right now but if Azzi Fudd whoops her ass at any point in the tournament this year or if she comes back next year this will be a talking point that won't make Hannah look great. How did Norte Dame do last year? Did they win it all? They act like they did. Not in the final 4 either? So far just pretenders not contenders
@dashx110318 күн бұрын
Do you mean NOTRE Dame? They were a sweet sixteen team ... while playing without several starters down with injury. They have nothing to apologize for, and if you don't think they are "contenders" now that Miles is healthy and Westbeld is expected back in January ... well, I guess we'll see who the contenders and "pretenders" are. I think UConn is good. A contender. I think USC is good. A contender. (Actually both Southern Cal and South Carolina). I think UCLA is a contender. There are a number of contenders. And I think ND is definitely one of them. Only one can win. But contenders? ND is on that map. For sure.
