She’s a great singer and artist, but relax, some things are culture specific. Soul music and it’s style of singing is and always will be black, pioneered and owned by black people. It’s in the DNA. Notice how you thought she was black because you heard how she sang. She can just sing soul music. If she was singing Samba or Latin Pop or Bossa Nova well, you’d think she was Hispanic, but wouldn’t say she has so much Spanish in her or so much Latin pop in her when you discover she’s not. You’d say she can just sing that genre of music well. Having soul and singing soul are much different things.

It is. It's only this lady's voice at the very beginning of the song. Kim Burrell, a black gospel artist, is the voice that you hear singing throughout the rest of the song.

@ Yes, he sampled Hannah, but Kim Burrell is most definitely singing on the voiceovers, whether it is listed, or not. I saw her in an interview talking about it. And, Jay-Z has said it as well. So, no disappointment here. I’m sure a quick Google search will find that info for you. We all know that Hannah Williams is a white woman, and that she has a great voice, and that this is a great song. That’s obviously why Jay-Z chose to sample it, at the beginning, and end of his song. But, Kim Burrell is singing throughout the song. Have a nice day.
