I live in south Florida and have taken many wild critters to the Wildlife Care Center by the airport in Ft Lauderdale. I love that you care enough to find help for this little dude! He's adorable! Fun fact, when a possum "plays" dead, they advising aren't playing. They get scared enough that they actually pass out! Good bless you! 😊

You should have left him alone it was probably more sometimes the mother will come through them hanging on her back she gets spooked one falls off she's not coming back for it and her and stinks is to save the others but I have seen out in the Farmland where I live in North Florida sometimes if she comes back the next day or evening looking for food in the same area she sees it she'll take it but you probably heard was that possum mama looking for your cat food but fussing on all you heard she was challenging the cats they don't necessarily hurt the cats but they'll run them off if she's hungry she'll run them off I have cats animals and all I've seen possums very much around my place I know how they act as long as they're not pressed pressed into a situation where their corner if she can get what she needs and take her babies and go she'll make a routine of it and then leave but they can be very nasty if they're very hungry and protecting babies those animals have 52 teeth and those claws can do some damage I have raised some from Babies besides you got there you should pull your you should have pulled your dogs away and put the baby and look like it been sleeping back for a day or two and watch for Mama she's probably coming under the fence along my top board in the bushes and know if there's bird eggs up in there they're not there now she eats bird eggs possums are omnivorous but the cat foods what's bringing her around they need high protein foods cat foods higher protein than dog food that's why you shouldn't let dogs eat a cat food it can cause some problems next time you feed your cat stand out there in a place or look through your window and watch for Mama she's going to wait a while to make sure you're gone raccoons that kind of the same thing but the cat food or dog food anyway if you have a rehab or around licensed you need to ask what you should do

Love what you did for the wounded little baby opossum but it took long to tell us. 14 minute lead up and less than 3 on the baby. I would have liked the minutes reversed 3 on the lead up and 14 with the opossum. Again great info and lots of love for our wildlife. Keep up your amazing work.

You did the right thing. We have been around a lot of small wild life around my childhood home and often had to nurse them to health. Back in those days there were no rehabbers. I'm 64 so can imagined what we didn't have back in those days. My brother brought home a barn owl that was found under a bridge unknown of how it got hurt but with my brother's knowledge of raising pigeons he was able to heal the owl and release it. So many other creatures that we helped healed and released, now we have these laws that keeps us from doing our jobs of healing them since we have knowledge. Oh well. Life goes on.

Ohhhh! Poor little one so scared...so glad you and your helpers found this cutie!!! Perhaps a fox or a mean Tom cat has been harassing your fur babies....when you take this baby to the wildlife people they may have an idea by the size puncture wounds what possible did this.....im so glad they can take little one on short notice he may not be out of woods yet as scavengers have bacteria in thier saliva, they will take good care of this little one thank you so much for your kindness...

Fast acting once you found the culprit! I'm surprised you didn't put gloves on to handle the possum, though! He was actually pretty calm while you were handling him, I thought! You went right to it, securing him, setting up a box, with a hot water bottle no less, inspecting him for possible injuries & you had the sense to contact wildlife rescue! Very efficient, thorough, and methodical! It was obvious to me that you knew what you were doing! Cool! I'm very impressed with you, little lady! To top it off, you have very good "stage" presence, very comfortable in front of the camera! You have a beautiful yard, too! You're a lucky duck! This is the first time I've seen one of your videos! She didn't "rescue" it! She took it from the place where the mother was familiar with leaving it so that mom could go off and search for food!! Just like a female deer.... They park their fawns in a familiar place and leave for the whole day in search of food. Then return at dusk to feed the fawn.....

Hannah you remind me of Jennifer Lawrence !!! So cute !! You did everything right for this baby. I rescued 7 of them that were with their Mom in the road. Mom was dead from a car but I took all the babies to a rehab and 6 of them survived 🥰 BTW, my Appaloosa horse's name is Hannah ❤

An Opossum's body temperature is too low to harbor the hydrophobia virus, unlike cats and dogs, raccoons, skunks, etc. I'm in Louisiana, and see them in my yard often. They like to go through the vegetable garden, and walk the fence line, especially after a rain.

The predator attacking the possum and your pets is most likely a snake, considering the two punctures in the baby possum. Snakes are also very common in florida. I suggest getting some traps in your yard or someone to get it/them out professionally, good luck!

Thank you for rescuing this baby, which actually is a bit young to be away from mom. I was an opossum rehabber in Broward County for many, many years. I hope you gave him to a private rehabber because some of the "centers" actually will euthanize opossums instead of take them in.

I hope it was not a snake that tried to get it or a bird (raptor) like an owl or a crow. There are many snakes in south Florida li like boas,rattlesnakes, water snakes you name them. We’re in NC and like you we have coyotes and wolves. They are there believe it or not.I hope you get rid of whatever it is.
