Mads Mikkelsen was absolutely amazing in this role. He actually topped what Sir Anthony Hopkins did. Very book accurate and completely unique at the same time. Mads is Hannibal Lecter now, at least for me. That is how I imagine him 🙌
@joebrown67784 жыл бұрын
Mads had to grow on me, but Hopkins tops him. Don't get me wrong I very much enjoyed Mads portrayal by season 2, but he's a bit stiff in his charm. He's a high end marble as opposed to Hopkins' silk. Hopkins was just effortless, he could switch between charming and terrifying so fast....the dead eyes of a shark, the smile of a wolf. Different strokes and all, but c'mon...Hopkins IS Hannibal.
@andikaputri26254 жыл бұрын
TOTALLY AGREE! IMO Mads is the closest Hannibal to the book and that's just how I always imagine him to be! ❤
@dabearslive96054 жыл бұрын
Joe Brown disagree bud. I would actually take most of your assessment of Hopkins and apply it to Mads IMO. And I am someone who was expecting to hate the show going into it, because I grew up watching Silence of the Lambs all the time, and could not bring myself to see anyone else as Lecter. But it just happened lol. I respect it though, I still love Hopkins, they are almost neck and neck to me.
@joebrown67784 жыл бұрын
@@dabearslive9605 Fair deal. At least we started on the same path lol. NBC didn't want a European actor to portray a European character. Wow, a very American approach. Anyway, Mads was truly a gift in any sense of the word. He became the epitome of elegance the creators chose as the main visual concept in terms of appearance, charisma and his micro expressive acting. I can't say that John Cusack or Hugh Grant possess the same energy when acting. Cusack is kinda forgettable for me, even though he's not a bad actor and was in many good projects, he just doesn't leave a lasting impression, which can be ok for some characters but not for Hannibal. Hugh Grant is memorable and his recent choices of roles only prove it, but his look and his acting just don't fit Hannibal. Some of the scenes would look plain comical or creepy. Not to mention, we wouldn't get such mind-blowing chemistry we got with Hugh and Mads, which is the strongest point in the show imo.

He presented the internal conflict of his character in such subtle but memorable nuances that left me completely invested in his characters development. Together these twos chemistry went beyond the simple and typical rules of romance and attraction. One of the fascinating aspects of them speculatively putting Will on the spectrum is that recent research findings in high functioning autism, specifically what would formerly have been classified as Aspergers, have found that rather than having deficits in emotional empathy as had been believed, there is actually a hyper intensity of empathy that the individual struggle with trying to separate their emotional experiences with those of others, which creates the need for the social withdrawal that is typical of those on the spectrum.

My goodness, NBC's Hannibal is one of the best shows ever made. I don't think they realize how lucky they got: with having Bryan Fuller on board and such splendid cast. People still talk about this show years after it ended, which is a huge complement in itself, but also, there are so many shows being produced that are so bad... Quantity over quality, that's what it is. And this is also another reason to just respect any director's autonomy: the really good ones KNOW what they are doing... Same with Dune; I'm so glad Villeneuve just had a vision and didn't allow anyone to mess with his vision of how Dune should look like.

And she didn’t even watch it in English (which I think takes away from the experience quite a bit).

Hannibal still has so much potential, so many new fans have been pulled in through Netflix or Hulu and so many more would join if the show got the opportunity to go on. As farfetched as it may seem, i still hold hope for it to continue.

i love it so much that bryan fuller said he wants to work with phoebe waller-bridge bc killing eve and hannibal are two amazing amazing shows with gay murdery spouses and gorgeous character arcs, god i would give an arm and leg to see the collab

What an in-depth conversation. It is a privilege and sheer delight to learn about the details of the production. The ways in which these artists have magnetised, validated and elevated each other - and the genre indeed - are profoundly touching. Through ‘Hannibal’, a place of gaze and contemplation “was made for all of us, together.” Thank you.

I just finnished all 3 seasons for the houndred time and I think there is just so many people, including me, who need season 4. This show is a picece of art in every way and 3 seasons are just not enough :(

i so much enjoyed the nuance, humor, wit of the show and how it took such risks and carried them off so well. the aesthetics were fabulous.

It’s so comforting to hear Bryan acknowledge and talk about the medicinal quality to film and entertainment. Hannibal is one such piece of art that comforts and holds me up when I am down and I will forever cherish it and everyone who was involved in it’s making for that. Still hoping for a continuation of the story. Interviews like this really help fill the season 4 void tho 🙌

I am straight, but love Bryan Fuller as an artist creative spirit and the whole cast of Hannibal and Scott Thompson's Post Mortem aftershow. Just an amazing show and production that deserved more seasons. Just the Symphony of Slaughter short documentary blew me away. Details mattered to this wonderful recipe of a show and vision that feels unmatched for network TV or hundreds of multi million dollar production movies.

I've been watching hannibal non-stop with another friend. There's a need for a season 4 and more. Fix it Jesus!. This is an excellent interview from the start.

I loved this series like the day is long, and never missed a chance to recommend it while it was on. I’m so glad it’s on Netflix now so I can recommend it to even more people. If Netflix greenlit another season I would lose my entire mind.

I just finished season 3 and then found this video. Hannibal is a literal work of art that no one has experienced before. If you think you're watching a tv show about a guy who just eats people, you're very mistaken- it is far..far more then that. Give it a chance, stick with it till the end. I still have goosebumps from the final scene and it's been over for an hour. Part of me truly wants a season 4 and the other part of me wants to imagine the beauty the could be on my own. I guess only time will tell which one we get.

Thanks for asking about the music. I absolutely love scores and Hannibals is absolutely incredible. I am a music maker myself and my absolute dream job would be to make the music and sound design for this show. In the opening credits, I swear they use the sound of a sizzling fry pan weaving in and out. There are so many things like that... the chimes when alana falls through the window... there was some stuff that reminded me of the clatter type sounds in the shining. Exactly what I would love to, and do love to do.

It's 2-minutes for a movie, but for a series it's a full episode to count for viewership.

I absolutely adore Hugh and I am a huge Hannibal fan!! When it comes to the show, I was late to the party, only discovering the show when it was released on Amazon Prime! Boy was I mad at myself for not having watched this masterpiece of a show sooner!!!! The reason I didn’t watch it when it was originally on NBC was because I had seen all the films and read all the books many times. At the time I could not imagine that anyone could top those, let alone actually make something better!!! I suspect many people felt the same as I did and that was the cause of the low ratings. Never have I been so happy to be wrong about something!!! Honestly I have seen all 3 seasons 5 times now and still discover new things I missed each time!! Having watched each episode so many times and also having been a fan of The Path, it always shocks me when I watch an interview with Hugh and hear that English accent! 😱 Actually I think it makes him even more adorable!! Thank you Hugh, Bryan and all the cast members for making this small screen masterpiece!!! If I could have one thing before I die, it would be a season 4 of the show!!!! 🙏🏻 This was an excellent interview and I thank you all for it!!!!! Cheers

That McDonald's shooting script sounds like a crackfic 😭😭. I'm constantly impressed every time I sit down to rewatch Hannibal. I just adore it. Hannibal and Mr Robot are my two favourite shows, neither of which got the hype they deserved. At least Mr Robot got to end on its own terms D:

Finished the show a day a go and I am already re watching. Though I sometimes stop playing the episode to just google things about the show. Honestly that's the best part of watching a great show, I can never wait until all is revealed and I get to finally look up speculations and interviews. I just realize how absorbed in this show I was. I didn't notice Hugh was British. I usually can tell when an actor is British playing as an American. The corners of their mouth curls.

Thank you for this! I just finished watching Hannibal. I didn't watch it when on NBC because a) I didn't think a regular Network would make it as it should be (I was wrong) and b) I thought it just focused on the one book Hannibal and then spun from there. I had no idea Will Graham was a character. Manhunter is one of my top 5 favorite movies. BTW - I'm so glad John Cusack and Hugh Grant said "no".

Amazing interview! I really love that you took the time to ask them simple things like favorite Disney ride, classic movie, etc. Those answers really give a feel for a person, I think, in ways that you wouldn't expect. And of course, all of the Hannibal content was exceptional. Love this interviewer!
