I wouldn't be surprised if your neighbors call you the cat lady! 😊 EDIT Erin, please ask Jack to ask for things politely, please! When he said "How much" without adding please (s'il vous plaît in french or hafek in Darija) to the salesman, I was truly shocked! A little politeness will go a long way! the seller is a pious man who listens to verses from the Quran, believe me when I say these little things mean a lot to him!

hanout and moul-lhanout (store owner) is a very old thing in morocco, the impcat of hanouts in our daily lives, i think its still exists in small cities, the moul-hanout can give products without money to people from his place, the street or district where he is located, and register the operations till the end of month, when people get their salaries and then pay him for what they took from him ( oil sugar gaz etc..), never saw this anywahere

Hi, Erin. Glad you like it that much in Morocco! it is pleasant to live here, for sure! Customs and culture differ a lot from culture to culture, and it's always good to get to know different customs and lifestyles! I just wanted to comment on what you said about people not buying in bulk here and buying goods on a daily basis.Well, today, for modern households with both working parents, it's literally next to impossible to buy stuff daily. Buying habits have changed so much over the last few years, here. Even in households with stay at home moms, doing the shopping once or twice a month has become the common way to go. So, fewer people still do the shoping daily.
