Interesting information: The Republic of Turkey is not actually a Muslim country. Türkiye is a secular country and there is freedom of religion. A country that takes women's rights into consideration as well as religious freedom. Women have the freedom to wear whatever they want. I don't know why it is thought this way, but the number of people who prefer Islam only in Turkey is quite high. Türkiye is officially secular and not a Muslim country. (I heard this is also true for Indonesia)

I don't know anything about indonesia's history and their statehood process, so whatever I say it will be wrong. But for Turkey people forget one thing which is more important, there is the phrase "Islam" was written on the personal identity card in the section indicating the person's religion. Moreover, in the constitution of the Republic of Turkey, "Türkiye is an Islamic state." writer. This law is still written in the constitution of the Republic of Turkey and has not been changed. I don't understand why people from Turkey are ashamed to say that?

We don't say we are European but somehow it's always people outside of Turkiye who claims that Turkish people look European. As Turks, we are very proud of our history. We have a history that traces back to central asia where our ancestors were nomadic. Of course, as we came to Anatolia, we were exposed to Islam and people adopted the religion. Appearantly, what you know about Turks nothing more than Ottoman Empire.

Additionally, since our Republic was founded 100 years ago, many significant advancements have been made concerning women's rights. The Republic of Turkey was one of the first countries to grant women the right to vote and be elected, much earlier than many major European countries. I saw a lot of comments about Türkiye. So i want to explain this. Yes Turkey is Secular. and according to current statistics, 89% muslim. but this isnt true. Because everyone who is born is automatically registered as a muslim. (there are some reasons for this). I am a non-muslim Turk. and they wrote islam on my id. no one asked me. and they added as muslim to statistics. There are millions like me. Religious information doesnt appear in new IDs. but it is available digitally in the system. So people forget that they are even registered as muslims. Those who want to change mostly either do not want to make extra effort or postpone it due to current political reasons.

has been a lot of change and decline, especially in the last 10 years. There are many non-muslims, especially among young people. The ones that do exist are mostly just in name. Almost no different from deist. There are people who arent muslims even if they wear a headscarf. For political reasons, these issues are more sensitive for us than other countries. People misunderstand the “not a Muslim country” thing. It means the country is not ruled according to Islamic law and is secular. We are taught this since we are children so when we hear Muslim country we automatically want to correct the mistake. So they explain it like “we are a Muslim majority country, but not a Muslim country”. I wish people in the comments were more understanding. Indonesia isn't moslem country and isn't secular either.. Indonesia don't implement syaria law because there are other religion in the country, and indonesia have Ministry of Religious Affairs to manage thing about religious practices. Indonesia have religious schools, religious law for every major religion, religious banking.
