My father in law was first cousin to Hans, their mothers (Bertha and Martha Baetz) were sisters. Kirk told me about his cousin who gave him a copy of his book. Kirk passed away recently at 101 and I found Hans' book when clearing out his house. It is truly a fascinating book about struggle, survival and success.

Mr. Massaquoi's book is one of the best I've ever read. It's one of my top five favorites. I initially read it immediately after it had been published and I'm rereading it now. I wish I had the pleasure to have met him before his death. What a life!

Hey, I just started reading your father's book and wow, who knu? I am currently living in Berlin, Germany and have an interest in Blacks in Germany during WWII so came upon your father book. Was pleased to learn about his life and career. All I can say is, bravo!

I just finished the book, "Destined to Witness," and I have to say that Hans lived in so many places and had so many many experiences in life. It's a compelling book and he's so smart and has put up with so much hate and varied people. What an interesting life he has led. So happy he had a loving family he can count on...

The daughter of african american actor ira aldridge and swedosh was invited by cosima wagner to the ring of nibelungen in bayreuth to play in a leading role. There was no notion of a black race in germany prior to the rising influence of the united states after ww1. People of african descent were just exotics like japanese or chinese or indians. Sometimes noble exotics. The polish even compared themselves to the cameroonians who were under german rule just like they were after the polish partition. In 18th century there was polish general with the same roots of h.j. Masaquoi. All this anti african racim came from rhe anglo saxon/american world and spoiled everything.

His book is really good! i read it and i watched the german movie and it is so important! i am happy that my teacher gave us the task to read this.

Eine tolle Karriere! Und das trotz aller Widerstände. Was ich aus dem Buch mitgenommen habe, ist das man auch heute noch gut auf seine Zwiebelchen aufpassen muss. Natürlich kann niemand in der Schule die ganze Zeit daneben sitzen, wenn sie oder er ein BPoC-Kind hat. Aber ich verstehe und unterstütze den Impuls, diese Kinder vor bösen Diskriminierungserfahrungen schützen zu wollen.

There is no such thing as black. yellow or brown germans. Either you are german/nigerian, german/turkish, german/egyptian or german(austrian) japanese like alexender von coudenhove kalergi (from the comspiracy theory kalergi plan) or austrian/sokoto like graf von fallersleben.

(easier access to universities jobs and schools wellfare etc. for non.-whites) ..in this case its NOT a problem to tell who is white asian black etc. ... also when we talk about BLM ..or black ppl and their interests NOBODY would tell them you DONT exist as a group

@@amonduul2154 i lived in Austria and Germany ....like many other countries that were built by europeans (aka whites) it attracts many people from all over the world ... european societies and the countries built by europeans like US Canada or Australia are the least racist and most developed countries in the world , so everybody wants to live there...so whats your point ?
