He’s playing more tournaments than anyone and isn’t that odd to be drawing given the nature of fatigue: he knows he’ll draw anyway so it may just be a compromise to his fierce schedule.

Hard to say if he's having other issues with fatigue, etc.. He had a double ear infection a few weeks ago. It's not easy to travel around Europe & the Middle East for extended periods like he does. Most of the time he plays like a 2700 but it seems that often, he gets into an even position and somehow wins when the opponent makes a blunder in time trouble.

bit harsh... he's done it twice in his last eighteen classical matches ... a 13 move draw against Salem Saleh as black who's rated 2629 and a 16 move draw against Alexey Sarana who's rated 2706 Is Finegold going to come down on the likes of Wesley So who seems to does this a lot and to a lesser but still notable extent, Hikaru?

Isn’t hans ~2700? If so, why force a draw vs 2629 anf 2706 if you aspire to break into top 20

@@sigurdh.s8320because he’s playing a classical game everyday for 3 weeks straight, so if he has the opportunity to make a quick draw a couple of times against players near his rating it makes sense, so he can have more rest. 2 quick draws out of 18 is not much

I haven't seen Hans' recent games but there is wisdom in what you say here. In general, we should aspire to take actions that align with our words, anyway. And anyone who claims to be the best, or on the road to being the best certainly opens themselves up to critique. Btw, I would guess your ambition is to be '100% you' haha... mission accomplished, I think.

SGM Hans Niemann has the know-how and mental capacity, I think he's just coasting for now, trying to find new strength to make his next big push. He has to get past the human limit which is not easy. He definitely has room for character change. Almost all of the top level players are roughly equal in capability and then there is just one more performance tier above them with SGM Magnus in it. But on the remark about Hans "Losing all of his games", even though his loss rate is 22-23%...I find the mistake with criticizing the performance of other players is that the rankings are so tentative, so fluid and each player is just one bad day away from dropping down a tier unless they are totally free of any memories of wrong plans, inaccuracies, blunders or any moves less than "Best". Nearly all human players are not able to calculate accurately at 60 moves ahead at all the relevant possibilities, so they shouldn't be criticizing anybody because they don't fully understand the games they play, either!

Yes I don't understand why either. People blunder like he did against Sam Shankland, but taking these draws is very strange. My only thought is that he is thinking of maybe saving his energy for the tail end of the tournaments. He scored 5.5 which is respectable for him in these opens, but playing for short draws will not get him to the top.
