I'd appreciate feedback on this. (sorry, I don't master chess notations so I explained it in plain english)

At first I thought the solution to the puzzle was 1… Na5 2. Bxf7+ Ke7 3. Qb5 c6 4. Qe2 Kxf7 -+ However, then I noticed that white can play 3. Qa4 instead of 3. Qb5 and in that case black has just lost a pawn, and castling rights. So the solution is 1… Nd4 2. Bxf7+ Ke7 3. Qc4 b5 4. Qd3 Kxf7 -+ Also, in the last position in the video where you play h6 Nxf7 Rh7, it's also worth mentioning that Bxf7+ is met by Ke7, and white loses a piece by force. Their bishop is attacked by the king, but it's defended. However the defender itself is under attack

I'm debating back and forth and decided to check the computer. It recommends Nd4, but my original thought was d5 and if they take with a pawn or trade off with the bishop they will be down -3.60 points in advantage vs -2.20 with Nd4. I personally would play d5 despite the video indicating Nd4 is the move.

I was trying to figure out. …Nd4, Qe3 d4, Bg3 dxe4, Qc4 Qe7. And so on. Is there something better after Qe3 guarding c3? Edit: wait after Qc4 threatening mate black can play …Be6 and the queen needs to retreat to f1 or she’s gonna get trapped. Then black can trade bishops and c3 is hanging.

The move should be Nd4 to attack the queen and the c2 pawn. Then white probably plays Bxf7+ and black is forced play Ke7, then white must move the queen. The only move which deals with all threats is Qc4 which defends both c2 pawn and f7 bishop, but now black can play b5 to attack the queen and white will needs to move the queen away and allows black to either play Nxf2+ and wins a rook, or give up the bishop at f7

Great video again! The problem I am facing is that I have difficulty to find the great moves you are talking about. I pretend I have to imagine moves that are against my actual "narrow" vision. I also feel a little bit like Luke being told by Yoda to unlearn what he has learned 😄 One example is that someone said to complete the opening before attacking, what has helped me and what goes somehow against your attacking moves in this video. I am scratching my head about how I will address all of this from now on 😵💫. That's what I like about chess, there is always something new to consider; even things we took for granted. Thanks.

The key is to keep playing with all these ideas in mind. You'll probably make a lot of mistakes, but it will slowly make sense and become part of your games until you notice a big jump in your rating. I went from 700 to 1200 in less than a year following this method.
@loeksnokes36584 ай бұрын
The thing to think about is not a fixed rule like "touch each piece one time in the opening until you are castled, Queen is off back rank, and Rooks are connected." That becomes like religion; fine on general principles, but problematic on details. Notice how Igor here compares the number of activated pieces at the end of each response, and chooses the one where your active piece count has grown compared to the opponent's, even though you might have moved a piece twice to get there? This is the key: respond to pressure by heightening tension with bigger threats than your opponent is making. This leads them to trading down to get out of pressure, and so, giving you a time advantage. You always want to gain time on the board. I am only 2100-2200 on LiChess, so not a Master, but hopefully this advice rings true for you.

I'm mid 1300s & I've been employing counterattack for some time now. I think Igor overrates 1500 players & underrates players of my standard. I've noticed in other clips. He seems out of touch with a large group of very good players who can't crack 1500. Incidentally, finding the correct move at the 7-min mark on the clip (Rxa2) was pretty easy to see for anyone on my rating. I won't go into detail right now, but I think Igor also gets it wrong at around the 11-min mark when he forgets that it's actually a rook-PAWN tradeoff for the knight -bishop, so if bishops are worthy a little more than 3 pawns, white is slightly worse off in material terms.
