I have actually found out about Servant Leadership just recently as I was searching for the different types of Leadership. I realized then that there was a name to the way I wanted to work and conduct myself with others. I will check those 2 books. I am also searching for current leaders I could model.

Hi Jacques. I am so glad that you found me. I think you will find several of my books to really speak to the topic and unpack the details of how it really works. Thanks for your comment!

There is only Leader that you can follow on Servant Leadership and that is Jesus. Its Jesus who first talked about servant leadership and showed how to be a servant leader. And Kenneth Hartley Blanchard's books

@@rosyjacob5038 I do think Jesus is our best model. But there are other great leaders out there that also practice servant leadership. Thanks for your comment.

Not the role, but the goal! Inspire by doing yourself as well.

Fabulous. I've only worked under one person who exemplified these real leadership qualities. She showed me what I was capable of achieving by gently pulling me in the direction that fit my strengths. I grew in that organization in ways I never imagined would be possible for me. Cheers to the amazing leaders out there!!

Great wisdom and resonates with the core teaching of Lao Tzu (The Master), the author of TAO TE-CHING (CLASSIC OF THE WAY AND OF VIRTUE, 600 BCE) who wrote: VERSE 7. OTHERS BEFORE SELF (as paraphrased by me): The sage places himself last and emerges first. Because he subordinates himself, he is preserved. Is it not because he does not live for selfishness that he realises himself?

Some good points in there hans but as an agnostic, far too much religious reference for me I only come to listen to you talk about leadership not have religion quoted at me.

If you notice in the notes. This talk is done at a Bible College, hence the references to the Bible & Scripture.

Servant leadership? An oxymoron. In the church we have servants: people with different roles, from organising to being organised. Leading people is supporting them to be effective in their roles.

Thanks for the comment. I would agree!

Servant leadership is not an oxymoron. The purpose of a leader is to serve in the interests of those led, ideally towards a common goal. You need to remove associated connotations around the word "servant" to understand it is more than the associated stereotype.
