The Dutch version of his nervous act is soo much better. In that version he goes on and he says with his trembling voice that he's not all there because he's a bit distracted because his dog had just died. Because he threw it out of the window. And that he's really regretting it because now there's a huge draught in his house.

doesn't work nearly as well in english, a lot of what he does is good because it's so masterfully dutch. this is like a weakly boiled down version of the original jokes. a lot of the musicality and energy gets lost cause of the accent as well. the expressions are still good but he's not at his best cause the audience isn't reciprocating like they would in the netherlands

i concur, even though i'm dutch and can understand all his work, his absurdism seems to hit off pretty well with the brits, Dutch humour isn't that much different from british, it's less stiff upper lip, but it's filled with sarcasm and absurdism, hyperbolic comparisons and awkward tangents that make people wonder whether they have to think through to see the joke or it's just superfluous shit, but somehow just funny... it messes with your expectations, it's mostly completely absurd, but sometimes it makes sense for a second, just to throw you off lol i just like to see their crowd enjoy it across the small pond too i've seen him in interviews... this guy can be so insanely on-point and coherent if he wants to, well-spoken and his logical deduction is ace this guy is without a doubt highly intelligent, and he knows damn well what he's doing :D there's a thin line between being fucking nuts and being a genius, this guy is one of those prime examples of toeing the line on the very border between them. also he can pull some fucking crazy faces on top of all that too lol his english act could still use a bit of work, but even in the netherlands, there are people that prefer his English material for some reason, it's the same but quite different.

People need to watch a LOT of comedy before you watch Hans Teeuwen. You can't appreciate the absurdity of his act until you've seen a hundred stand up comics attempt what he's doing but they always back off.
