A little information about Hanumanji Hanumanji's real name at birth was Maruti meaning "son of the wind" . "Marut" means wind or Strom gods hence is son is "Maruti". Hanuman means "one with disfigured jaw" in Sanskrit "Hanu" means jaw and "mat" is a Sanskrit suffix. The name Hanuman was coined by devas when child Maruti was severely injured by Indra "Vajra" attack in an event when Maruti leaped in the sky to swallow the glowing red sun 🌞 thinking of it being a red fruit. According to valmiki ramayan which clearly mentions Hanumanji as "Vanar" which is Sanskrit would mean 'Van' meaning jungle and "nar" means human being so the word 'Vanar' translates to a jungle man or Forrest man or Forrest dweller. It could aslo mean a tribal man living in Jungle. A monkey is called as 'Langoor' or 'Markat' or 'Kapi' in Sanskrit. Since Vanara's behaved like wild people with no sense of discipline or civilised sense they were regarded as "Monkey Like" but they were not monkey they were human. Another fact about Hanumanji is that in war hanuman never used gada ( also known as Kaumodaki) he fought we bare hands, tree trunks and bolder and stone. The kaumodaki gada is weilded only by panchmukhi Hanuman which is a later addition most likely. On Hamuanji Depiction as Half monkey half human? My point of view regard the same Since our ancestors could not have imagined how to draw a human figure of lord Haunmanji and other Vanara's as described by valmiki ramayan of a person who was strong tribal Man but behaved "like wise a monkey" or "monkey Like" . Thus our ancestors could have drawn or imagined him as" half man half monkey Like" . In order to fulfill the terms used in text by Sage Valmiki when describing Hanumanji. They would have drawn him and depicting him the way we see Hanumanji today.

Burning of Lanka with tail is misinterpreted i guess (he would have burnt Lanka by hands only) . He was Shiva's incarnation,also been given many mystical powers by other gods. Leaping to srilanka or bringing Sanjeevani parvat was nothing.

1That does not gel with the epic as we know. As told by Valmiki, Marrecha vadha takes place in Panchavati. Then Ram kills Jatayu and then meets Sabari. All this in the north. Only after that Ram comes to Kishkinda. Thirthahalli is south of Hampi. So the story you have heard is not a possibility. But Ramayana actually happened nearly 10,000 years back. So many facts and incidents would have gotten mixed up in some groups of people.

Hanuman was Vanara, not a monkey. Jambavant was a Riksh, not a bear. The truth is that there were various intelligent species at that time on earth. It's hard to find the correct answer if you correlate everything with modern science.

Vaanar word means van(jungle) me rhne wale nar(human).....so definately they are not monkeys

@@ab19236 there were some jungle tribes which used to wear a loin clothe as there cultural dress which can be mistaken as their tails. you can look for (sora tribes).......You see women in ramayan are never shown with tails because the loin like dress is only worn by men only....thus it proves that they are not monkeys for sure.... If they were monkeys then both male and female should have tails.😊

Vaanar means monkey only...there are ancient statues of Hanuman ji which show him as monkey. Maybe primate state or early human monkeys

@@AK-sm7hw Bro Ramayana is 7000-8000 year old and the oldest statues found of Hanuman ji is at khajuraho which is barely 1000-1500 year old, In that statue there is no tail of any kind.... But leave it....just think why only men had tails and womens doesn't.... You'll not find any women tailed statue why??....maybe they were not humans but not the monkeys for sure....please don't insult them by calling them monkeys 🙏
