I think John wouldn't want Roger to sing - didn't even occur to him to think of that - Roger usually sang lead ONLY on his own songs; also, Roger HATED "Another One Bites The Dust" 😃 He didn't like dance music in general. Freddie was the only John's supporter 😃 He tried to sing the best he could for John, he sang until his throat bled (from Freddie's interview).

Freddie was open to any kind of music. Brian and Roger were into rock. John was hanging out in Chicago with musicians there because that was the music he liked.

Jane Matthews - I suspect part of the reason John retired was he would be relegated to the back burner and have no ally. He also respected Freddie's legacy and was fed up with the lifestyle which was out of character for him. Freddie always said John's songs were "singer's songs". He should know.

This might be my favorite HAP3SPEAKZ reaction EVER! I was laughing so hard at work the first time I watched I had to explain myself. Ooops! When you reacted to the Montreal '81 live performance back in June, there were adlibs, singing by Roger and Freddie's call and response with the audience. I love the live performances in Montreal and Wembley. This official video though - it just drips attitude and funk. The music is so tight and you can see it flow though Freddie. That shimmy shake (4:36) is everything ! John's riff has to be one of the most recognizable of all time. Thanks for the fun, HAP!! I nominated this several times for the monthly song poll on Patreon but could never quite get the win (too many great choices!).

Absolutely love your reaction! I laughed through the whole thing! Another One Bites The Dust, Freddie belting out the lyrics! He always put 100% into his performances, but Freddie seemed to put 110% on Deacy’s songs. Queen was all over the genres even if they did a punk song they always did exactly what they felt! Love ❤️ from across the pond, Dee

I think Deaky had some of the best songs of Queen,Roger and Brian didnt really care for this one either, yet this hit it big in the US of A!! No, 1!MJ borrowed a lot of Freddie in his act,his glove from the early days, some of his moves, its too bad they didnt do more together, another one of Deakys great songs to me I want to break free, not in the US when it came out will be played in a superbowl commercial this sunday, already have seen a preview, its really cute, wont spoil it for U,look for it!Glad MJ pushed them to do this song,it was only one of the few songs that hit number one in the USA!!

Originally John wrote it about Cowboys hence Another One Bites The Dust but he was talked out of that by other members until it became this . Roger hated the dull sound John wanted for the drums over his normally style , this in some ways led to the Hot Space sound they tried to recreate the funk sound from what Dust had created

You couldn‘t escape this song in mid 1980. It was everywhere. Have you ever heard of Weird Al Yankovic‘s fun version „another one rides the bus“? Really funny, he became big with that. This video was one of the first occasions to introduce the famous moustache. Ist was brand new. On the single‘s cover there still is a picture without moustache, but in the video, he had it. They had their big world wide hit „Crazy Little thing...“ months before the album „the Game“ came out. Out of this this album, the first Singles they released were Play the Game and Save me, beautiful songs, but they didn’t reach high chart ranks. Then came „Another one...“ and broke all records.

Great reaction Hap! Okay so here you go....you wanna see Roger sing more, you wanna see more ad-libbing, more freestyle on Another One Bites the Dust? I’ve suggested it before, you HAVE to go watch Another One Bites The Dust at Wembley! You will get all of that and more! Freddie puts on an amazing Performance as always and changes it up and takes it to a different level. It’s my favorite version of the song. Just a warning though...you may curse and even drop a few F-Bombs. Just DO IT! You’ll love it! I PROMISE ♥️♥️♥️

Roger and Brian always sew Queen as a Rock & Roll band. Freddie and John wanted to push the band into a more Funk and Disco direction. The success of this song which was massive gave Freddie and John the evidence to push for what became the Hot Space Album. I think Hot Space is far better then many suggest but still probably Queens most unloved album.

I honestly thought it can’t possibly be true that Freddie made his throat bleed while recording this song bcuz I’ve been singing for most of my life and i just couldn’t fathom it. I taught myself how to sing a lot better just by watching and studying Freddie and trying the techniques that I watched him use. Then I started to try singing this song hard the same way Freddie does and my throat is raw after one go through, every single time. So i can totally see it now.

My cousin says that the F-Bomb ISN'T a swear word if you spell it with a "Ph" instead of an "F" ! I guess then it would be a Ph-Bomb. ;D

I guess I just assumed you had already done this one. LOL. Anyway, be sure to check out the Wembley '86 version (Saturday, not Friday), NOT Montreal. Please! Oh, Milton Keynes is great too, and kind of funny ad libs: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aH_Ek6Rjh92sars

HAP did react to the Montreal version in June 2020. Roger sang backup vocals in that one.

@@rockledgeln Ah, then I probably skipped it. I hate the Montreal version. I'm not a fan of the entire concert, actually.

Agree on Milton Keynes. Freddie was having fun.

This a fun reaction, you are having a good time, your reaction made me laugh. The Michael Jackson impersonation was funny. Freddie sang his ass off on this song, he does an E5 note in full chest voice, that is damn hard and next to impossible for most singers. Other singers use mixed voice to sing that high. Brian and Roger hated the song, John actually played most of the guitar on this song as well. This was much more of a John and Freddie project. You should listen to the studio version of Dragon Attack, it also has that great bassline, they skipped over some parts within the song in the live version. Another One Bites The Dust has voice shredding vocals, if you are interested you check out this analysis of the singing within the song in your own time kzbin.info/www/bejne/gV6TemObn5WFpcU. They used the same vocals as the version you mentioned with Wyclef John, what happened is that they sometimes, mixed the tracks with the music too loud and Freddie's voice to soft.

😁I imagine the reason there were no vocals by Roger on this song... was because Brian & Roger DIDN'T like it! (Too disco-ish.)😅
