The video quality from this concert is in the Oculus because a lot of their 1970s and early 1980s concert video coverage wasn't that gray until around 1984 or 1985.

My favorite version of this song!! Roger , Brian, John, and of course Freddie showing their individual talents as well as their phenomenal cohesion as a group!! No one could ever touch them as equals, they were just to far ahead of any band! Bless Freddie, praying John is happy, and kudos to Brian and Roger for keeping Queen’s amazing music alive still, along with Adam, for new generations to discover. I’m 63, my daughter 35, and my grandchildren are 17 and 13 and ALL LOVE Queen! Thanks for your terrific reaction! 🎧🎹🥁🎤🎸👑👏👏👏👏👨🏻👨🏻👨🏻👨🏻

Queen is Legendary and always will be..Amazing chemistry, totally focused, very harmonized, and a lot of energy. Freddie, Brian, Roger and John, best musicians by far. They were. I think Freddie said sometimes I open my mouth and Roger's voice comes out. Tokyo 1979 Don't Stop Me Now--Freddies voice was in bad shape Roger sang. Dragon Attack Milton Keyes Brian's string broke and John did a bass solo. That's just a couple examples of their closeness.

Fabulous! You bet they were and still are the genuine article! While their studio work is awesome, their live performances are EPIC if not magical! A testament to their pure, eternal talent! Aside from beer and water on the piano, Freddie also had hot lemon honey drinks as well to soothe his vocal cords because, though they made it look like a walk in the park, their music is NOT easy to sing.

Ahh, my favorite live version of this song! Freddie's vocals are on point here. It gives me goosebumps when he hits those amazing notes! They were all so perfect playing with each other, you can really tell they've rehearsed and totally have their shit together by showtime. Your reactions are so in depth and detail oriented. I really enjoy that you're not only listening to the songs but really learning about the band and appreciating their style (s). Can you just imagine how amazing they'd be if our beloved Freddie was still here with us? Speaking of, unfortunately he passed away on my eleventh birthday, a sad day to say the least of it, but now that I've given away my age, lol...Hap, your channel is fantastic friend. Please keep it up and if your'e looking for another song, "killer Queen " is a classic and i personally like the original version, which was performed on Top of the Pops. Also, "too much love" by Freddie is a great emotional rollercoaster tune, that im pretty sure you'll take an instant liking to, especially since you're so into lyrics . Ok, novel over, haha ttyl, peace!

I think that's about all of their live shows were absolutely incredible and from what I've heard, they didn't ever give a bad live show. I've got friends who are super Queen fans and would go all over the place just to see them in concert . They were always over the moon because they said that Queen gave a better concert than any other band they had ever seen & they were comparing clean to group's like Genesis as well as Led Zeppelin & Van Halen. I did see Van Halen's 1984 concert and it was good concert and it was good but I have seen better. I saw a Duran Duran in concert a month after Van Halen and even with Duran Duran being a less popular band, put on a much better concert than Van Halen. My boyfriend at the time said so and he was a super Van Halen nut

@@HAP3SPEAKZ Definitely a behind the scenes feel. They said Freddie was very upset with the cameras that night. It was being filmed for a traveling IMAX type show and the entire band felt like the camera crew were in the way. Arguments ensued and they actually banned their manager from the dressing room. There was interesting talk about the lights, how after this they hired a piano player to take on tour so Freddie would be freed up to interact with the audience more, and also them knowing each other so well they could work on visual cues from each other. I love DVD extras.

Love seeing your first reaction to this incredible performance. Queen was voted best live band back in the day and Freddie has been the best rock vocalist for a long time. They had been together 11 years when they did this tour and Freddie being a perfectionist it is not unusual the drums and piano were in sync. No one can ever replace Freddie Mercury. All 4 members of the band were excellent musicians. You will also notice every song he sings he pours tons of emotion into it. He truly was a human auto tune. BTW- back then it was common for all bands to have their beverages sitting on a piano or whatever was convenient for them to take a sip between songs. This song was written by Freddie. He absolutely loved Aretha Franklin. She was the influence for this gospel type song. Queen did a large array of different types of music. They could never be put in one genre. You should check out their heavy metal type song - Stone Cold Crazy - live version of course.

Queen = Synergy. Plus, the rhythm section is Roger, but John on bass too - the two are an extension of each other. They are the foundations that Freddie and Brian can play upon (and you might notice that Freddie and Brian play off each other too - a long guitar note to lengthen a vocal. Perfection!). You gotta listen to some songs JUST for the bass line though - absolutely incredible. Deaky was a secret weapon. Listen to Millionaire’s Waltz a few times to focus on different aspects, but at least one listen be just for the incredible bass...

The live version is very different from the studio version, BUT both are extraordinary. if you ever see the video, good lord it's like going to church on Christmas time and it is absolutely beautiful with those harmonies. Watching Queen live is like going rogue and getting one hell of a show!! In 1974 and 1975, Queen had only been out about three years and we're just beginning to get more popular and they gave to free concerts in Hyde Park. 200,000 people showed up! They gave a concert each year for free just to thank their fans after their sheer heart attack album A Night at the Opera. I don't know of any other bands that do that! Freddie Mercury was always giving it so much heart and soul when he sang. I'm not so sure that he was showing off rather than just pouring out his heart and soul during those huge vocal parts. He's always loved Aretha Franklin so he sings so full of soul. Freddie Mercury was a very deep person but he had to be in the mood and with the right interviewer. His interviews with David wigg were some of the best because they were friends, and Freddy hated giving interviews and only trusted David Wiig.

Yes,they were a cohesive unit;they always knew what the others were doing, which turned into something amazing. Freddie is said to have a four octave vocal range. The beers and drinks on the piano I submit may belong to the roadies and peeps behind the scenes, such as the guy who hands Freddie his mic and takes he when he sits at the piano.

This is a classic for Queen Fans. I know lots of live performances that are hailed as the greatest queen live performances. One is Queen Live at Wembly, 1986 performing “Another One Bites the dust”and also “Under Pressure”. And also “One Vision/Tie your mother down from same concert”. Another good one is Queen “Fat Bottomed Girls”, Live at the Bowl 1982. “Don’t stop me Now” the official version is good for this. I have loads more. Keep on jamming 💖

Keep on jamming I shall. If you want to provide the links you may, but if I get them wrong. I can always do another reaction/ commentary to their music. Love it. The mystery of their sound and adventurous nature is why I am still curious. Every reaction has been unique just how every performance had been for them. It's been an absolute pleasure. Queen really broke down the barriers.

If I focus on particular music for too long, yes my channel could grow fast and quicker but it wouldn't be authentic. I wouldn't be happy with it. So I do try and keep things interesting by doing songs other people have requested that are from rap world. This way my appreciation grows ten fold. As thus the reactions I have done by Queen, musically - has been genius.

Brian once complained that Freddie like to write songs in a-flat and e-flat! A little tricky on guitar! 😸 You should see the stamina they had playing 2-hour plus shows! Again, I think I said this before, go and look at EVERY LIVE Queen DVD you can find! Tommygun videos has LOTS of very rare early performances, very good quality, and ABSOLUTELY WORTH HAVING!

I don't know if anyone else has explained to you about the cups on the piano. They were several different types of liquid in the various cups. Beer, whiskey, tonic water, lemon water, water, etc., etc. Over the course of their normal 2 hour+ concerts, the cups were replenished and arranged in a certain order on the piano so Freddie would reach for whatever cup he felt his voice needed at any given time. Great reaction and am so glad you really listen to the music produced by all four of Queen.

Absobloodylutely the most amazing group ever, they are all intelligent Stars. Queen and David Bowie were the first two albums I purchased as a young teen, so it truly saddens me that we are where we are now. Not of course, forgetting Prince and George Michael...... all of whose music I have loved over decades. I don't think we have such iconic new music anymore that would stand the test of time. I'm waffling now, so......... You should try and check out Death on Two Legs and the meaning behind this Queen song. Also great if you could react to Bowie and others. Cheers from the UK

This is not a one of a kind performance by Freddie. He did it in his performance "Live at the Bowl" at Milton Keynes, 1982, just s powerfully. You didn't see Freddie run out of steam halfway through their concerts. I recommend "Stone Cold Crazy" live 1974, as you seem to like earlier stuff...that will blow you away too.

Hi Betsey, as I said I was never a Queen fan. So I am responding to comments and requests as and when. I give merit on every performance based on two things (that are important to me), sound quality, and musical timing (live). Of course we can add energy, vibe to the list. Thus far every Queen song I have heard, Live. Have exceeded my expectations. May I refer you to the playlist I have created? I will continue to add more Queen songs to that list in the near future. Thank you for taking the time to drop a comment and I have taken note of the song you suggested. Which I am very excited to listen to. :) Stay well.

Fantastic reaction! You are picking up really well on things. The band was extremely tight, they were not the type of band that played sloppy live shows. If you want to see a performance that really shows off how tightly the band worked together as a unit check out Staying Power live at the Bowl Milton Keynes 1982 kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqOqmYCbprdkoqs. When Freddie played piano on songs they were mostly following his lead. When a song doesn't have piano it was actually bass player John Deacon who is keeping everything in line, the bass player almost has to be a few milliseconds in front of the rest. If you want to hear a song with real fast singing like rapping check out Stone Cold Crazy live at the Rainbow 1974 kzbin.info/www/bejne/imm1l5Vnf9mgn8U. In Queen's early days their perfect playing was used as criticism against them, because people were into a lot more sloppy blues music at the time. Some people thought they were too perfect. But I am mean it is obvious that Queen were also performers with emotion, they don't just do perfect studio renditions, in fact Freddie hated doing that. This was different from the studio version. More big bands heavily influenced by Queen is Muse, The Smashing Pumpkins and My Chemical Romance. Queen also gets along very well with The Foo Fighters and Metallica, both bands are massive Queen fans who often go to Queen shows, both have covered Queen songs. But there are loads of others Guns n Roses and Axl Rose are massive Queen fans and they were influenced by Queen. There are loads of metal bands such as Dream Theater, Anthrax, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. Even Michael Jackson was influenced by Queen.

**Zenobia** @HAP3SPEAKZ mentioned in reaction that at one point it was nearly rapping- there are several performances were Freddie was doing something very much like “early rapping” Michael Jackson was a HUGE Queen fan- he was a performer who was just considering breaking away from his family group and Motown style. Once he was “of age, met band, became friends with, recorded in studio with Freddie- story goes Michael was major factor that influenced band to release “Another on Bites the Dust” which gained a lot of Air play on a black station out of NewYork- they were unaware that Queen was a previously established rock band- thinking it was new group with a new sound!!! And I am just a casual fan- meet a serious fan and ... knowledge base is off the chain!

I requested this Performance too. Funny that you mentioned Mick Jagger, I'm gonna tell you a random story that just came to my mind and might interest you. Freddie and Michael Jackson were recording a duet song called State Of Shock. They have recorded some more songs in a whole day and so on. So then someday they were in Studio again (or maybe it was the same day idk 😂) but like the Special person Michael was, he brought his Pet Llama into the studio. Just your reaction already to think why would you bring a llama into the studio, Freddie didn't think any different. So you can understand that Freddie wanted to Leave 😂 So yea they stopped recording all their stuff. They still were Friends. They wanted to record again someday but it never came to it because of all the Schedules they had. You know touring and stuff and everything. Freddie wasn't alive so long (he died in 1991) If he wouldn't have had aids I bet they would've met some more times at the studio. Anyways if you think what does this has to do with Mick Jagger, Michael once called Freddie if he could replace Freddie with Mick Jagger on the song State of Shock and Freddie was like ''hell yea why not, A song is a song'' so he literally acted just normal and cool. But the Freddie and Michael duet of State of Shock is out there even if it isn't that finished. The Mick Jagger and Michael version was the ''official'' tho if you understand, Since Freddie and Michael didn't really finish their stuff. I can tell you the reason why Michael brought his llama in there. He is such an Special human and he connects with Earth and every Living thing that exists and He said when his llama was with him he could sing better and think of better music and how to Improve. So yea that's it. Michael Jackson loved Freddie and he was inspired so much by the whole Queen band. Without Queen Michael would have been sooo different. So those are big Inspirations to Michael. Freddie did actually ''rap'' sometimes. Just like he did at this performance one time. 8:49 YEP Thanks for the shout out 😂❤ . Somebody to Love is a Gospel kind of song it was inspired from Aretha Franklin. Freddie loved her. In secret Somebody to Love was his favorite Written song. I can agree on that even if Innuendo and Bohemian Rhapsody were better. Because THEY WERE Better but they also told more truth and it was just different. And to somebody to love, it is just a Feel good song so it is completely different to Borhap and Innuendo. I hope you understand how I meant it. The Studio Version of Somebody to Love is like an ''Second Version'' They were live so Different. But the Live and the Studio version BOTH are just fantastic. Unlike White Queen, they only did a great White Queen performance once and the Studio Version of White Queen doesn't even have that Instrumental part it has live. It is just on an acoustic guitar in the studio version and it isn't catchy to me. And I think Somebody to love is better than White Queen because The whole band was singing (in the studio version) and Roger did do so many High notes (in the studio Version) AND LIVE IS JUST WOW. What Really impresses me is that Roger Taylor holds the beat so long and so good. I am kind of a Drummer too and hitting the Bass Drum in that tempo and holding it so long is so good and just hard af. AND HE WAS ALSO SINGING AT THE SAME TIME. I wish you would have praised Roger more for his Job because singing like that and also drumming AND hitting high notes is just the hardest job. Drums and singing is by far the most hardest thing. Piano and singing or Guitar and Singing are pretty good to make but the Drums are such an Athletic Instrument and catching the next breath is hard and holding the beat is even harder while singing. This whole band is Pretty epic. Freddie leaving his drinks on the Piano there shows to me that he feels like home. He didn't have to be professional. If he would have NOT put his Drinks on the Piano then he wouldn't be real and he wouldn't be Freddie. He always had drinks on his Piano and Freddie is a real real Person. If he wants you to fckk off he doesn't even try to hold it down. He just says it. So what I'm trying to say is there are many Famous people who aren't real and are faking their selves and are some stupid people irl. But Freddie was real and a Great Guy. He didn't lie to interviewers and Stuff. If you want to see Freddie being himself off stage react to *_Freddie Mercury - The Official Birthday Video_* I know it isn't Freddie's Birthday yet but it doesn't have to be to react to that Video. The Queen Official channel posted that and those are clips of Behind The Scenes, Outtakes and just everything. So you are gonna see some great stuff of Freddie there and you'll get a glimpse of him being more him😂 and what a Kind and honest and brave person he was. I know you have many requests but still I try to put this on the reaction list if you ever do it it is *_Queen Live at the Rainbow (1974) - In the Lap of the Gods_* That Song really reminds me of White Queen because of how well they play their instruments there again. But still I like Somebody to Love and Lap of the Gods more than White Queen. That doesn't mean I hate White Queen, I LOVE IT but both of those songs are better to my Ears. and the story and facts behind them and just everything. Freddie sounds Great there on the Lap of the Gods performance and Roger... wohohohohohoohooo You'll gonna see.................... _𝔸𝕟𝕘𝕖𝕝_

So in this instance, the winner takes it all ;) and it happens to be Janetjrfan. Hope you understand. Well, I never knew Freddie and MJ had a connection. You can see it now, Queen touring with MJ or MJ touring with Queen. Whichever way it went, it would have been nothing short of a revolution. I find solace in your comment and do thank you for taking the time to write in such detail. I am also glad you noticed I gave you a shout out. Special Red!. @@HAP3SPEAKZ Stay Well too. Thanks for reading my comments. I Love explaining stuff about Queen and I'm happy that you read those. So I understand that Janetjrfan was the first one but I wasn't mad or anything for that, I just wanted to say that I was happy that you reacted to it because I also requested it among with other people. Yes Freddie and MJ had a great Connection, both fantastic Human Beings and great artists. I also wanted to mention again that Freddie and Michael thing. So freddie didn't say 'hell yea why not, A song is a song''. Here I'll write out of Freddie's own mouth so you understand it better. Freddie: ''it's all okay because uhm Michael called me up and said look I want to finish the song I want it on the Jacksons album and I said I can't come over 'cause I'm in Munich and he said Is it okay if Mick does it? so I said Fine you know songs are Songs I mean as long as our Friendship carries on we can write all kinds of songs after that'' so that Line shows me that They were good friends because they talked about their Friendship and stuff you know. Sad though that they couldn't record more than 3 songs. (just an example of how big for an inspiration Queen was for MJ) If you listen to the whole Hot Space album from Queen (21th of May 1982) and after That Michaels Thriller album (30th November 1982) You'll hear so much how Michael improved and got Inspired by Queen. If you think about it, While hearing Michael's Thriller album you can even imagine Freddie singing all those songs because in Hot Space it was full of songs like that. Michael got his Glove idea from Queen, Michael performed better after seeing Queen perform on Videos And Live (Michael went to some of their Concerts and also met them backstage and everything) and then that Album thing that I mentioned. So it is pretty obvious. Michael also said ''study the greats and become greater'' he surely did that. I wanted to correct you on the Red Special, it's not Special Red it's Red Special. I actually don't care at least you know that this Guitar is Unique and fantastic and great. But Some Queen fans might get angry idk 🤷‍♂️
