I don't know the exact translation but from what I remember from hula - in this last verse we are watching the sunset after a fun day of collecting limu (ka ulu wehi) from the ocean (kai). This is such a fun hula and when Hapa performed in Oregon, lots of women from the audience got up on stage and danced. Might be something they do at all their touring concerts.

Jesus loves you and wants you to follow Him ❤ He is the way, the truth, and the life. I was an atheist for years and practiced some forms of the occult until I had a supernatural encounter with Jesus that profoundly changed my life. The gift of salvation and eternal life is available to all who put their trust in Jesus. He can heal you of the deepest pain, trauma, disease, addictions, and shame. Seek Him with a genuine and humble heart and He will reveal His existence to you.

This song is really pretty. Can anybody tell me the story behind it? Or it's meaning? I looked up the lyric translation, and still haven't a clue what they are singing about.
@kludgeaudio9 жыл бұрын
Literally, they are singing about seaweed. Lipoa is a kind of flat light green seaweed that is used more as a seasoning than as a vegetable. Limu kohu is also a seaweed used for seasoning but I've only seen it dried in balls, I don't know what it looks like fresh. Limu pahe'e is what the Japanese call 'nori' seaweed, and I don't know what limu lipahu is. When I was a kid, I was told that this song was dirty, that it was actually about a man comparing his lovers to different kinds of seaweed, but you know some people just see sex in everything. It's whatever you want it to be about but the words are about seaweed.
@leimanaang9 жыл бұрын
+SophiaPatience As kludge said it is about different plants of the sea. Ka Uluwehi O Ke Kai translates as plants of the sea. It was written by Edith Kanakaole.
@manoftheleaf7 жыл бұрын
Literally the song is about the observance of the various types of seaweed in and around the shores of Hawaiʻi. Metaphorically its about sexual freedom, seduction and a return to a familiar pleasure. Sorry for being two years too late.
