I find this quite useful. While I live in Texas and I pack a gun very often such things as a short stick has it's benefits. Especially with small children in the house. You use this stick like a whip.. not muscle but speed and accuracy. It can break wrist, nose, jaw, elbows.. you can jab into the eyes and throat. As I said, it is quite useful.

Oh but sometimes you won't have that .38.. you can leave such short sticks around the house or motel room. Now I say that being a CCW carrier and 5th Dan TKD practitioner (as well as Krav Maga) who packs a Glock very often. I keep my options open.

Yeah, Hapkido is one of those arts that gives a broad curriculum but its as specialised as something more dedicated to one pursuit. Still. I think you can probably use it as a base to build off it.
