@@HappilyEverHanks We just purchased a new Arctic Fox 5th wheel and are going to begin traveling around the northern states. We are based in Oregon now, and plan on spending time in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and the Dakota's to start. Watching your videos has really opened my eyes to a new and exciting lifestyle. This is something that my wife has always wanted to do, but I was not really interested. I have always enjoyed going places, but never embraced the RV lifestyle. Your videos, and seeing the excitement and joy in my wife's eyes now that we have our RV, I know I'm going to love the adventure! We both hope that in our travels, we will be lucky enough to meet you in person some day!

As a Boondockers Welcome member please note that not all hosts have acres and acres of property. Some can only offer a safe place to park which might be a driveway in a residential neighborhood. Some can only offer a strip of grass on the side of their house and accommodate a 20 foot rv. The premise behind BW is offering travelers a safe place to park while traveling. 😊

Since I’m 59, I decided to buy the Lectric Bike. I go to Fort Wilderness in Disney World a lot (I’m only 1.5 hours away) because I love that campground. Well, I rent one of their golf carts at $65. a day every time I go. Last time it was for 5 nights so I rented it for 7 days. Yup, 7 times $65. is $455.00!!! The Lectric bike was $1,000. So three trips will pay for it then after that………woo-hoooo!! Fort Wilderness is my splurge…my reward for decades of work. As a bonus, I’ll have the Lectric Bike for every other campground I go to. Win-Win!!

Awesome tips!!!! A tip/trick we use, having kids can get expensive buying toys and other things they want and see on the road at all the tourist traps and stops you make. Soooooo we pre-buy treats at dollar stores, Amazon and other places for a fraction of the price. We hide them and bring them with us. So when we make stops, we trick them and tell them we got them something at the stop! For example if we are in the Orlando area, we buy Disney related items cheaper and bring them with us! We save lots, and also keep their attention for longer drive days! 🥳🥳🥳

Sandra Westley from the UK a bigger tip would be not to get your kids used to having new toys all the time, give them half of there toys and put the other half away, after 3 or 4 weeks collect up all the toys put them away and get those others out, best never to get into the habit of keep buying toys every time you go out. Kids don’t need toys a few boxes and the odd chair with covers make dens much more fun.

Those free electric hookups are good for EV road trips, too. We live in the sticks, so to get to the nearest Tesla supercharger to get on road trips, we need to hook up at an RV park in winter when the cold affects vehicle range. EV charging at an RV site tends to be a flat rate of $10-20 for the stay, which will take 2-4 hours, compared to a Tesla supercharger taking 30-60 minutes to charge the same range. This means our RV park charger stop is usually timed for around a lunch break. I believe all new Teslas ship with a 14-50 adapter, but check the specs on your vehicle, not all makes and models have the same plug compatibility. (I drive a beat up farm truck that can tow a 4+ horse trailer, hubby is Captain Gadget. We make it work.)

more like HappilyEverDorks - lol! Great info - definitely doing All Stays Pro. Best takeaway from the vid - go slow. Stop, pull up a chair and stay awhile - best advice ever. The less driving you do the less $$ you spend on gas (it's like duh... but it's important) We're still on the fence of staying on someone else property (Boondockers Welcome) but can see the benefit. I would add that food can add up. On our short trips we tend to splurge, but every day is not a luxury resort day. Best to plan and prep cheaper meals daily - and it's more healthy.

Back when I was military in NC we used to head to the beach on base (we'd convince our CO that it really took 2 hours to get the medical records to the on base hospital...no clue why he believed that!). But there was a gator on the way...in a big hole. Every time we went by we tossed him a few burgers. He preferred McDonalds...no clue why. Love the channel. Just wanted to comment on TSD Logistics fuel program. 1) each truck stop’s discount is different but you can search ahead to see what the current rate is before you get there. In my experience, TA has the largest discount. 2)The convenience of easy access using the commercial truck lanes versus fighting to find and maneuver around regular fuel stations is priceless. No anxiety or stressing about fitting. For reference I started with a travel trailer and popped a tire in a curb on my very first trip using normal pumps with a gas truck. Upgrade to diesel and fifth wheel in 2020 and signed up immediately. Definite game changer for me. Only con is you do have to give your ss# and bank account info to get started.
@HappilyEverHanks3 жыл бұрын
Hey Randal!! This is really valuable information!! Thank you so much for taking the time to write this, because we had no idea about this 😃Is there an app for the TSD? If there is, would you be able to tell us the name? You hit the nail on the head with that, we absolutely love not having to wiggle our way in, I feel so at peace going to truck stops to fuel up!! What model of RV are you rocking out on the road? 🙂
@randalclayton97123 жыл бұрын
@@HappilyEverHanks search EFS in apps for iPhone. More notes: When you fuel,you will see the cash price on the pump. Immediately after you complete the transaction, open the app and it will give you a detail of the transaction showing the discount and amount that will be charged to your card that you link to the program. For example, you might fill up and see $85 at the pump, but after the discount, you were only charged $73 meaning you saved $12 by using TSD. Disclaimer, I do not represent TSD, I’ve just used it for about 8 months and it’s great, EVEN if you don’t get a discount, the freedom of movement through the commercial pumps is one of those intangibles that adds up. Final pro for the program is the ability to use the card directly at the pump without having to prepay like you would with a regular bank card. Good luck with your travels! Enjoy.
@HappilyEverHanks3 жыл бұрын
Randal you are a lifesaver!! Thank you so much for this, we are downloading this app now! How wonderful 😃🙌🏼Having this flexibility is priceless and saving money is just icing on the cake! We are so happy that you are enjoying the program as well! Whatever saves the most money and keeps the RV tires on the road right? One last thing if I may... does the app show you different pricing of truck stop locations in the area? Or have you just found that TA in the past has the best savings? We need to start trying to find more TA's now!!
@randalclayton97123 жыл бұрын
@@HappilyEverHanks yes the app will show prices for that day as the rates change. You can also go to the link that the company sends to you upon registration that gives a detailed list of every fuel station that participates. So you can look ahead of your route and plan stops by convenience with the best possible rates along the way. Hope that helps. Oh btw, yes in my experience between Pilot, Loves, Flying J, and TA, my best discounts have been with TA.

I was a truck driver for 15yrs so thank you guys for mentioning keeping spaces for the driver if possible. One thing you might want to mention is getting a CB for help if one needs. The police monitor 19, even if you don't have cell. CB might work. Blessings on your beautiful journey!

We use Quicken to track ever penny we spend and take in. We are very frugal also!!!! We drive North in the winter, and South in the summer lol. So are we have camped in 17 degree weather to 114. We had a different experience with credit cards. When we got hit with fraud and it was easier to get our refund from the debit card than it was with the credit card. The credit card wanted to fight us saying we bought the items, and the debit card refunded us the money before we even knew it got stolen from us. Both cards were from the same company. You may be getting a lot of negative comments but....We bought a 2021 Forest River Sabre 36BHQ at the Dallas show in February and took delivery in June. We did a full walk through with power water, etc. Granted my wife did all the research/reviews before hand and this was our 3rd trailer since 2o18. We have had only the typical problems, trim falling off and the occasional pex fitting failing. I feel most comments are only negative, this is a positive one!

Love you guys! So entertaining and informative. #ThanksHanks. Oh, and thanks for the cameo, too. One thing that saved us a ton of money coming back from Florida in March was our main macerator toilet started to get a valve stuck and kept running our fresh water and filling up our black tank while boondocking (two extremely bad things). So we emptied all our fresh, grey and black tanks at one Boondockers Welcome knowing we still had eight more days of travel to get home. The host said he knew of a great local RV tech he could call but we decided to wait since we had a second gravity toilet on board that we could use with a jug of water. Once home, I dropped the coach off at our local RV dealer and they replaced the $2400 toilet under warranty. Whew!!

(Hence, we are viewing KZbin videos to learn more about RV camping...and #ThanksHanks for teaching us so much!!!) So, we've been renting different types of RVs to see what we'd prefer to own.Your tip on camping off season is spot on. Last year, we went to Sedona in the winter (and rented a travel trailer that the owner set up for us). It was absolutely beautiful and we loved it. A two day snowstorm moved in, but we loved the adventure of being stuck at home base. And, I learned that snow melts fast in the mountains as the temperatures warm up. Additionally (like your other tip), we saved money by staying around Flagstaff instead of Sedona (and we wanted to be where we could build an open fire). We are looking forward to using more of your money saving tips.

Hola from Peru! I will start full-timing in November. These tips will help. I already planned on getting the All Stays Pro and Harvest Host. I will save this video in my favorites for future reference. I told y'all we were going to Paracas this past weekend. It was freaking awesome! We took a boat tour out to some islands off the coast of Peru where you got to see Sea Lions, Penguins, and millions and yes I mean millions of birds. They collect guano from the islands where the birds nest. Tons of bird poop. Here the Sea Lions have no natural predators. There are virtually zero sharks of any considerable size in Peruvian waters. So the sea lions are safe. We also went to Huacachina. It's a natural oasis in the middle of the desert where you can do sand boarding. We opted for taking the paddle boat around the lake instead. We are doing Machu Picchu and Cusco over the 4th of July weekend. I've got to get my bucket list things out of the way before I leave. Anyway, Huge hugs from Logan and me. Remember gators are more afraid of you than you are of them. At least that's what we used to tell my brother Stumpy.
