Hi, I’m from Saratoga NY, I’ve had many orchids over the years that do well for the first two years, but once I’ve repotted them they just wither and die. These instructions have been very helpful. My 3 freshly repotted orchids look ed stunning and healthy in only a week. Now three weeks later new leaves are developing. I’m very excited to see bloom stalks emerge. Hmm, this is very interesting. I love orchids and I have over 12 plants in my house. I get two blooms per year without doing anything, just watered them weekly and I don’t cut the stems bc I have new flowers growing from the old stems and I do get new stems as well. My bloom usually last about 3-4 months. And they love indirect sunlight. I’m in SoCal.

Not cutting the flower stems and allowing new flowers to grow from old stems is a great method to help the plants grow more sustainably. Northern California- (Livermore, Dublin, San Ramon area)- just bought 3 orchids recently. Ive heard sliced onions steeped with cinnamon is good too. Im looking to eventually tie them to trees in my yard (in the correct microclimate). Have a blessed day year & life

Onions have antibacterial properties, and cinnamon has antifungal properties, both of which can help protect orchids from certain diseases. The type of tree you choose to tie the orchids to is also important, so select trees with suitable bark that allows the orchids to easily attach. Thank you sooo much for replying to me. I was shocked, yet sooo happy with the advice. I did cut a few roots today after watching you. It was watering day so seemed easy. I pulled up a green root with a long yellow root on it . I cut the light yellow off. I hope I haven’t harmed my previous orchid that was a special gift. I appreciate your advice!!! Let me know please if what I did today was right thing . I also put a little cinnamon on the cuttings. I’m scared

Do you cut off any new roots that are exposed? Do you transplant the Orchid to a larger pot? This video is amazing.

New roots are crucial for the plant's growth, so let them grow naturally if there's no issue. As for transplanting to a larger pot, it's generally necessary if the roots have filled the current pot or if the plant needs space to grow. Choose a pot that's appropriately sized so the roots can grow comfortably without being cramped.

I had a room full of orchids. One year I had to sell my own home and give the money to my ex husband. The plants and flowers kept me cheerful and hopeful in my next place. :) Then mistakes repeat themselves SOMETIMES. Some young man thought I would be his next conquest and quickly moved in with me. I travel for work coming home every five to six days. He was often wanting the house to be warmer, and warmer😞. Believe it or not some plants dont do well in a hot home. Plus eventually I was not there to MiST them. This Video is probably the most complete and inspiring video I have seen on orchids. The young man has flown back to his country and I am a happy plant and people person again.
