I agree, it shouldn't be a daily thing. However, in some areas where date palms are growing, wild fennec foxes eat the dates! They actually need those sugars as a quick energy source. However, since Djinn has access to his food 24/7, he doesn't need a quick energy source like sugary dates (or banana, or strawberry). He still is very focused on these quick energy sugary foods, because of those wild instincts.

There's a whole Japanese island dedicated to Foxes, they have a shrine, vet services, ER for foxes, treat machines, and everything you can even sit down with them and give them love! If ever I could travel again, that's one place I'd love to go!

These are adorable, but my concern is that there may be Fennec Fox puppy mills!

They are very hard to breed, though. Because of their skittish nature, the parents kill and eat their kits most times. They are afraid that a predator will eat their kits otherwise. So, almost all breeders pull the kits away after they are born and try to raise them with puppy or kitten milk. But fennecs need their fennec mom milk... They need it every 2 hours, and feeding them enough can take an hour as well. Which means, you'll get 1 hour of sleep before waking up to feed the kits again. The kits mostly die anyways, even when humans try to raise them... This makes fennec farms almost impossible. What we do have in our world, very sadly, are people who take very young fennecs from the wild and sell those. When exported to other countries, they die as well because of dog diseases. We have looked for years and years to find a kind and honest breeder. Two of those years, the kits were killed by the parent foxes (which was heartbreaking...). In the end, a breeder found us and he let the parents foxes raise the kits and hand fed them extra milk himself. Shortly after the kits (Djinn and his sister) where older, the parent foxes died from old age. We were very lucky to be able to get Djinn ❤️

This fennec fox doesn't look tame to you? Just because it's exotic doesn't mean it should only be in the wild, the owners are very responsible and give the little guy everything he needs to be happy. They even took him to the beach ffs so he could be around natural sand

You realize that there are generations of fennec foxes being kept as pets right? It is in fact very possible for them to be litter trained, and I don’t think you should ever treat a pet like a wild animal, because to me treating something like a wild animal is avoiding it and being cautious of it. If you mean they are not fulfilling the fox’s natural instincts or giving it a proper diet then you are wrong. If everyone had your logic we wouldn’t have any pets, they would all still be wolves and wildcats.

It's a living creature, not a thing, and it's a wild animal, so you shouldn't buy one at all. Go adopt a friggin' dog.

It's a fennec fox and they're both difficult to keep and find as pets. They're extremely difficult to breed and you shouldn't buy ones that are taken from the wild because A) it supports the illegal pet trade and B) they may have contracted diseases that could kill them or pass to other domestic animals. My advice? Don't go out of your way to get one unless you have a lot of time and money to dedicate to one, they're nothing like dogs and are very much specialist pets.
