Just remember this when listening to Jimmy Page playing the guitar. More than anything young Jimmy wanted to be an artist, and playing music was just to fill the time until he could focus on painting. He never got back to the painting because he started to paint with sound instead. He creates textures and colours with sound, so I would argue he did actually return to painting.

I think, much like with Queen, there will be many individual song breakdowns: Led Zeppelin were the most innovative band of their era as well as being both blues rock and prog rock legends and pioneers. Jimmy Page made liberal use of alternate tunings, odd time time signatures were John Bonham's specialty, and the entire band's existence was predicated on broaching new ground: Led Zeppelin's entire sonic concept was to leave the 60s behind.

Very great news, can't tell you how much I look forward to all those videos. Amy, I am going to ask you to keep in perspective reviewing (and learning about) Led Zeppelin in comparison to Queen is the time frame in which these musics were produced. Led Zeppelin starts in 1967 as a very guitar centric band. Leo Fender issued the electric solid body guitar in 1955. Gibson produced their solid body electric (the Les Paul model) also in 1955. A solid body electric is a completely different instrument from an acoustic guitar in how you can express with the instrument. And it was a fairly new, not completely explored instrument in 1967. What are musicians going to do with this guitar, how will they play it? Brian May is a truly gifted and accomplished amazing guitar player. He is, and he has a distinctive recognizable sound and some playing characteristics but when he developed the road had already been paved, others had written the book on what you do with an electric guitar. Jimmy Page is one of the few who paved that road, he and a few others invented the slot in music where this instrument was going to live. Freddy Mercury is a gifted and incredible able oral performer, a true artist and a front man entertainer galore but Robert Plant's voice is special in a way that is hard to define the word "special." And during their time he broke through barriers that cleared the path for performers like Mercury. Bonzo, after all the decades of improvement in playing proficiency is, today, still considered one of the best drum kit players. You'll learn of John Paul Jones playing keyboards and bass guitar...scratch that, bass pedals at the same time like it's second nature to him. Have fun studying the Gods of rock, a term I don't like to use but it's halfway appropriate. So a leather jacket "chick"! right beside her Harp! Fantastic, certainly a unique look for YT, and that's important in developing a channel. Have fun with that too 🙂 We'll all be watching.

I'm so happy you are doing this! You won't be disappointed! I don't think they ever made a single "bad" song. When I was growing up, our local radio station would do "Led Zeppelin A to Z" over 4th of July weekend, and I would listen to as much of it as possible. One year they did a contest - after it was over whoever called in and identified the one song they didn't play would get a prize.

It would be fun to also learn about the history of "the forbidden riff" that is never to be played in a guitar shop. It was released on January 12,1969, not the 13th. I’ve seen other reactors post a whole LZ album on KZbin, so I’m not sure why there’d be a problem.
