+oldedude51 Do you want to know what kind of nations God sent his people after? They're the kind of people that would place babies into bronze bulls and have them burned to death until their bodies burst open and steam shot out of the nostrils, while using drums to drown out the child's screams, the kind of people who would have never listened to reason no matter how many times God tried to talk to them peacefully. God doesn't just have nations destroyed on a whim. If he did, Israel wouldn't have lasted a fraction as long as it did because they were constantly testing his patience.

I was on Parris Island in '72 during Easter...we had a similar speech where our Sr. DI came out and told us we had two choices, we could either go to the 3rd Battalion Chapel which would have a protestant service or we could March down to the main base Catholic church where catholic and other religions services would be held. We were in 3rd Battalion so though I was a Methodist (Protestant) and had never been to a Catholic mass I figured it was a much longer march down to the main base church so I would be a way from the DI's for longer so I went to my first Catholic mass. I specifically remember our Sr. DI giving us the same "it is okay to give your heart to Jesus but your ass still belongs to The Corps". Had a great time at Mass and very relaxing. Semper Fi kids.
