I've never seen a player winning with so much grace. From an asthetic point of view it's pure joy to watch him. Also he has a very unique style, that no other player has: His return of the serve is not just relative aggressive but also very smart. He shoves the ball in a very flat angle. It seems that other players just shove the serve because it's part of the game. But for Samsonov it's a part of showing dominance, control and introduction to his plan.

I'm still a novice at the game and this compilation is thrilling to watch. I have a question about some of the shot _choices_ though. When a player is standing so far back from the table, why doesn't their opponent try drop-shotting them instead of almost always smashing?

maybe to entertain the spectators , somehow it just feels right , smashing teh ball is so satisfying

You may have noticed, Samsonov is lobbing the ball pretty high, and also putting some spin too, making it more harder to drop shot.

When you make a mistake in a drop shot, it becomes very easy for the opponent to attack back. Therefore the drop shot is not always the best choice.
