Happy Birthday WAP 7 | 24 years of 3ph white stallion | WAP 7 of different loco sheds
On this 10th day of May in 2000, a 3ph white with a single red banded aerodynamic locomotive was flagged off from CLW.....after that, it created history.......Do you guess what the locomotive is??
Of course yes it is WAP 7 where W stands for Wide Gauge or Broad Gauge track, A stands for AC Electric, P stands for Passenger Class & 7 stands for the no. of WAP series. The locomotive got its first passenger duty on 19th May, 2000; after 9 days of its flagging off ceremony. Currently, CLW is not manufacturing WAP 7, but the Banaras Locomotive Works (erstwhile Diesel Locomotive Works) & Patiala Locomotive Works (erstwhile Diesel Loco Modernization Works) are in the process of manufacturing them.
