What is truly amazing here is that Roz Frith is not using a Boss RC30 as a lot of viewers seem to think. This is the earlier Boss RC20 and unlike the later RC30, it only has a single loop. Back in early 2009 in a pub on the Essex Road I met a young (then quite unknown) singer songwriter called Ed Sheeran who was using the exact same looper. For his performance that night Ed built up a quick loop over four bars and played a song called ‘The City’, which blew me and everyone else away. He had just put the song up on KZbin, and in fact it might have even been the same day because I’m pretty sure he was still wearing the same green T shirt. I chatted to him briefly afterwards and he told me he was using the RC20. I was so inspired that I went out and bought one myself the next day. Here’s the thing, aside from having separate ‘start’ and ‘stop’ pedals, the RC20 is very much 'entry level' and is as ‘basic’ as looping can get so hats off to you Roz for sculpting such a brilliant performance with the most elementary tools. Well done girl!

I had this playing while working from home. As I listened, my cat jumped up on my desk, and I took a break for a few minutes to just pet her. It really fit the mood, because that was a very happy moment. This is an absolutely beautiful take on Happy, and may be my favorite cover of this song that I've heard yet.

Awesome! I have an RC20XL. How did you revert to the original drum track during the verse while still saving the overdubs for later playback during chorus? I'm also impressed at how you utilized the first drum track and added new overdubs for the bridge. I'm trying to figure it out and am having no luck...
@Wes-1010 жыл бұрын
i dont think its completely live, honestly.
@DustinRyanMusic10 жыл бұрын
Weston Carlisle Jamin Leonares That my friends, is an example of an amazing performer. She's playing completely live and drumming manually on the verse with her strumming hand. That is to say, none of her overdubs are playing on the verse. There's a reason she has all her subscriptions :P

Dustin Ryan No doubt she's talented. I loved the performance. I'm just curious to see if the loop station I have has the same feature of recalling and silencing overdubs I'm live performance. I just realized that the drums on the verse were her hands, but I'm still questioning the reverting to original drums on bridge, adding new overdubs, and recalling all original overdubs for verse repeat. Any answers?

the chords arent everything. If you listen to jazz most people would assume its really complicated, but miles davis modal tune "So what" is only in two modes the entire time. Its simple but its insanely complex.
@relaxandlearn23234 жыл бұрын
@@hezekiahdaggett2179 Great Example, And the twelve Bar Blues are only "Three Chords" but those three chords modulate through different tonal centers (there is only one Dominant 7 chord in each key yeah) And to make things more interesting the blues scale that is super imposed against those chords are "Minor" scales... To think that this art form was created by "Uneducated Slaves" is to underestimate the intelligence of the human spirit. Unbelievably harmonically complex. While being intuitive, feeling natural , and communicating deep emotion. I Studied Music for 6 years in University and if you want to ask me which song Id like to play at a jazz jam. I choose So what by Miles Davis. because everyone in the rhythm section can play it. But the sounds that are possible are out of this world.

Absolutely brilliant.... I cannot believe the nitpickers here, daring to criticise this video, saying it's too slow, and people will turn off. Well, that's their loss! @swamplifecontrol10 жыл бұрын
The Happy Cat I don't understand - Why do you insist it is not one continuous performance just because the camera angle changes - ? So the 2 video sources from the same performance were pieced together in sync with a continuous audio performance ( from what I can tell. ) If I am wrong maybe it's just because I have watched her other looping videos so I don't need proof - I mean if it's edited - from 2 or 3 different performances - I didn't notice that - It looks like one performance to me.
@wobble385910 жыл бұрын
OneyedSon " Why do you insist it is not one continuous performance just because the camera angle changes". I don't. Again, read my message. I've said it twice now. You can see when the camera angle changes that it is edited, not because the camera angle changes but because she is looking in a different direction, or has a different expression. I'd like to take your word for it that her other videos are unedited but obviously I can't as you can't notice the blatant editing in this one so you may also have missed editing in the other videos. I know I'm being quite anal about this but having an edited loop pedal video is kind of like "singing live" and miming.
