My husband and I are planning a trip to Iceland and I've found your videos so incredibly helpful- Thank you! Something I would love more information on is the campsites. How much do they cost- which ones to you recommend, do you need to prebook, what they're like, showering and going to the bathroom, refilling the water tank from the camper at the campsites

We have the Happy Camper 3 reserved for a 6 day trip starting May 6th. We had the 4X4 but changed since Highland roads are closed. However, as I am doing my research, there are some gravel roads off ring road down to beaches and other interesting areas and I was wondering if you had any trouble with only a two wheel drive?

Thank you so much for this video! It is so informative and helpful. I am a bit confused though, as I am looking to book on Happy Campers and I am finding things you said that comes standard with the van is not actually included, and can be purchased for an additional fee, like wifi €40, sleeping bags €25, etc. Am I missing something, and these are additional sleeping bags and things to be purchased?

Do campsites fill up? Do I have to book a campsite in advance or is it fine to just show up and park? Also, can these campers travel on F roads? I’m traveling mid-end September 2019!

Considering how the weather is in Iceland - I would not consider renting a car that I couldn’t overnight in - in an emergency. I have zero intention of meeting the SAR team unless it’s around town.

Is it possible to buy a card partially used, let's say with a week's worth of credits? Is one night at a campground going to cost 2000ISK per night?
@IcelandwithaView
@IcelandwithaView Жыл бұрын
Camping cards are to be used by only one traveling group, not transferred to another group. The cost of camping varies by campsite and time of year. In general, you've got it right... budget for approximately 2000 ISK / ~$15 USD per adult per night.

Sorry, but for sure there must have been some incentive by happy campers for you to speak to positively about them, right?! It's great you liked the van but I feel like this is a bit dishonest. Not a single little detail you disliked. That's just unlikely. I would have enjoyed the video much more if you'd just been honest about what you liked and what you didn't like. I mean you strongly try to "upsell" everything. The extra items like the inverter for charging your phones, the GoPro batteries etc. (my question here: Why not just charge them from all the USB-ports in the car? I'm considering going to an inverter but can't think of any other use than putting some USB charger in there at the end anyways). Another example is the suggestion about going for the "bigger" camper van. First, many other people at least say that there are disadvantages as well (-> wind affects higher cars more; and obviously fuel usage increases a lot). Second, you completely ignore the fact that the big van is about twice as expensive than the small Happy Camper 1. For a whole week, more than 1000€ more. That's huge. I'd just say "oh well. Maybe you just have a lot of money" but at the same time you complain for the Tupperware to be very expensive in Iceland which makes me think that's not the case. I'm even wondering if happy camper upgraded you for free to the bigger van so that you make this video? I could just move on, never having written this comment. But I think this video can be very helpful to others, because it gives a really in-depth detailed overview over everything and has some good advices. And it could have been so much better if it was natural, honest, out of your heart.
