Good to see you again, Matt! Glad Montenegro is participating again. The way the EBU handled the Joost Klein situation (still up to this day) has definitely impacted how the fanatical Dutch regard Eurovision. It's not difficult to say that they were wrong and made a mistake on how they handled it. I think that's just what AvroTros and Dutchies as a whole want at this point, and way to prevent it from happening to others. Hope you're well!

Matt, completely agree with you about Basel! It's a great choice. I also think it was a good idea for EBU to give Netherlands an extended time to make the choice ... we should all want more countries, not less.

It is not only Dutch fans who want withdrawals. I don’t believe the EBU has changed at all it still just doing as little can to appear to have changed. If Israel is still in the contest I’ve decided any organisation covering the Israeli entry is not going to be watched by me, I’ll miss you greatly but I’m not boosting Israeli appeasement. I understand you are not covering to support their past or current actions but the reality is it will boost their propaganda. Hopefully I’ll be back, ESC united has been my favourite esc KZbin channel for ages. Sorry but this Israeli situation cannot be negotiated without condemnation of the Israeli action both inside and outside of the contest.

Are you gonna say the same thing about Ukraine who has done war crimes against Russia and prisoners of war. And who is fighting an army who invaded their territory to start with?
@b5bobby3 ай бұрын
@@tanktheplayer4275 please supply the international court ruling that say Ukraine has done war crimes? If Russia would leave Ukraine and sign a comprehensive peace deal, the Ukrainians would stop and return to their borders, the Ukraine didn’t blockade Russia for 18 years during the times there were not a war, Ukraine has not killed a hundred times more Russians than Russians have killed Ukrainians, there was no history of Ukraine’s occupying land not their over decades, no Ukrainian settlements build inside Russia and no Ukrainian road linking only Ukraine settlements and leaving the Russia town with dirt roads. In short your bullshit only hides your ignored or total bias. Oh and ofcouse the Ukrainians have never target any Eurovision artist that holds a viewpoint that doesn’t match their own to bully them or intimidate them.

Seeing Israel on your list of countries that gonna participate is disgusting and proves the double standards of the ECU. Though it'll be for a different reason, I hope we (The Netherlands) won't participate. And even if we do, I refuse to watch a contest that is clearly political. Understanding the reason the Eurovision started in the first place and seeing what it turned into now is appalling, disgraceful and sad.

Great, don’t watch then. No one is forcing Netherlands to compete, just withdraw. Israel is here to stay and compete just like Ukraine who is still in war with Russia.

Well - ESC2025 will not be in my watch list bc of the country committing gen0cide is allowed to participate. I stand for the Netherlands' decision to withdraw, EBU has done nothing to solve the issues. So sad Eurovision has turned off it's values they love to declare. This year is another one to root the artists outside the Eurovision Channel. I'm so sad that my country (🇫🇮) decide to participate. It's bye bye ESC for me. 😔💔

There is no genocide, as have ICJ said too. Stop making your own conclusions on stuff that is not true. What about the war crimes and war Ukraine has been doing to Russian troops?

I'm gay myself and have had enough of all the fuss. One change I'd like to see is juries not treating sexual Identity or gender as an advantage in voting. Nemo was fine, but hadn't he been so gender-bending, Baby Lasagna would have swiped the floor with the jury points instead. What they did with Eden Golan was nothing short of bullying so next year, everyone angry about current politics in the Middle East should just stay home because I want to enjoy a show not overshadowed by performative juvenile activism that didn't accomplish anything apart from annoying everyone. Disrespecting a performer should be equalled to disrespecting the event and results in a ban from the premises. No mercy for melodramatic brats.
@silencestation5573 ай бұрын
Agree about Israel, disagree about the rest. Nemo would've won the jury votes anyway, not thanks to gender or sexual identity but because of flawless performance and amazing vocal abilities.
@Mloofylicious3 ай бұрын
@@silencestation557 while his vocals and the song do deserve success, everything else was an ideological agenda. Eurovision isn't even trying to disguise the fact that being straight isn't an advantage in the community. When Bambi Thug says she's special because "I'm a queer witch", the wagon is off the rails and driving into the wall. I want to be entertained, leave the ideology backstage. They're so brainwashed that in a group photo of winners, everyone was female though it was Johnny Logan who won the contest 3 times. "Hold Me Now" is like the Fifth Symphony compared to "Tattoo". But hey, he's a man and that disqualifies him, I guess.
@b5bobby3 ай бұрын
Starting a post with I’m a gay man and then going on to imply that LGBTQ+ contestants get an advantage when they were the artists being the most intimidated and bullied and abused live on television broadcasts, show your complete bias. FACT Israeli delegation bullied and intimidated more than all other delegation put together, The Israeli artist far from being a little girl is a grown woman who despite being Ukrainian born, backed Russia traitors and has crossed in Ukraine land occupied by the Russians and was willing to sing for the occupiers so surprise (not) that she was happy to sing a propaganda song for the Israeli occupations. The quicker the revolting hate filled Israeli government falls and the millions of Jews around the world and in Israel who do not support the genocide of the Palestinians nor that government, voice their support for a two nation solution to the Israeli/palestinian conflict the better. Israel should be in the ESC, last year it used government money to help buy the public vote and it should have been disqualified not the Netherlands!
@silencestation5573 ай бұрын
@@Mloofylicious It's nice that you admit that Nemo still deserved success. A worthy winner of both jury vote and overall, I think there's no question about that. Even though I think you're overdramatizing the queer-issue a bit and imo the biggest problem of current jury system isn't giving advance to the artists based on their sexual preferences, I lowkey agree with you as well. I honestly think that the unbalanced overrepresentation of a certain community in the contest is becoming rather a disadvantage and in a perspective is slowly damaging the meaning and the very essence of Eurovision.
@Mloofylicious3 ай бұрын
@@silencestation557 Of course he did-pulling off balancing on the huge disc without losing control over your voice and delivery is one hell of an accomplishment. I merely don't like songs with too many different genres squeezed into just 3 minutes, but that's a question of taste, not of quality. I'm not aware of how things are going for other artists post-Eurovision, but for now it seems to me that the biggest hype is still focused on Baby Lasagna and he's bigger then ever, all over Europe. Instead of community representation, I prefer to treat Eurovision fandom as a single community on its own and that's more or less clear when we look at how many people there are. I have to agree with you too, queer overexposure (there is such a thing indeed) has turned some audiences away from the competition which is too bad. The essence should be about music. The quality of the acts has never been so high so I'd hate seeing it overshadowed by political statements. Honestly, if I wanted a competent opinion about the Middle East right now, I'd much rather listen to professional journalists and political leaders instead of a singer who thinks their follower numbers grant them authority outside music too. That's what some of the participants didn't understand last time.
