I remember being a kid in the 70’s when the economy was bad and groceries were sky high. It was mostly owner operators driving trucks. My old neighbor drove cross country and did well but not sure what the deal was with his situation of owner opp versus driving for a company

Brokers are the game in trucking , same as the companys leasing trucks to newbie drivers telling them they are owner operators. Why dose it go on , because its the game out there on the road .

It's mostly due to population growth. In 1960, the united states population was around 179,000,000. Today, it is double and we are sitting on 1960 infrastructure....Btw, more rules and regs won't fix it.

Look at the growing population of the United States while birth rates are at historical lows and you will understand why there are more accidents on the roads. The population of the U.S. is growing and growing FAST. There are more people in the U.S. than ever before and therefore the roads are being used more. The organic birth rates are at 1.5 (I believe.) Lowest in recorded history. So how is America growing? It's migration causing population growth, not the citizenry, which means the citizens are pretty much exxing out and no longer having children, but you will never hear about it in the news or the papers.

Look up regional. You could be home every week. Mesilla Valley Transportation pays .55 or .60 for company drivers. It depends on what fleet you’re on.
