I would be remiss if I didn't mention my Aunt who was my second Mother, and who gave me my first horse. So beautiful 🥲 HMD! 💐 My mother had a similar brown jacket with lapels and buttons. Hers was belted. I remember being fascinated with it, because of the fabric. It was called a “car coat” because it was not full length, therefore easier to get in and out of a car. She sewed every piece of clothing I wore from ages 5-10. I got lots of compliments at school. My favorite was a red jumper with blue polka dots, with a whale-shaped pocket in the reverse fabric (blue with red polka dots). My other favorite was my Easter jumper, which was in plaid Easter colors. (“Jumper” as in dress that you wear with turtleneck and tights, not the British jumper). I’m going to see her tomorrow! How very good of Drea to remind you, and us, of the wonderful mothers in your, and all of our, lives! I’m looking forward to tomorrow morning 🥓🍳🥞☕️

You are so lucky to have a mom like that (and mother in law). My mom has mental illness and decided years ago she wanted nothing to do with her two children. If we even tried to contact her she threatened us with police and lawyers. She also has nothing to do with my grown children and grandchildren. My mother in law never liked me because I wasn't good enough for her son and boy did she let me know. Married 41 years to her son and she finally has "forgiven me" for ruining his life. I have three beautiful children that I am very close with. At least I am thankful for that.

Wow, I am so sorry for all you've been through with your mom and MIL, Debby. Thank you for sharing this, even though I'm sure it wasn't easy. Motherhood is complicated enough, even under the best of conditions - and I can only imagine your pain in dealing with a mom suffering from mental illness. And being told that by your MIL, wow - so hurtful. For whatever it is worth, her saying that to you probably had everything to do with her and her life, her pain, etc, etc, and had nothing to do with you. For me, some of the most incredible and heroic moms I know, are the ones who had a rough go of it as kids themselves...you sound like one of those heroes. Your three beautiful children are so lucky to have you. 💗🙏

So, magnificent furniture faable-ist. Here's a challenge for you. Could you do anything with those functional [but very unlovely] Ikea shelves that consist of tall uprights and plain, untreated wooden shelves[not the slatted ones, those may be unredeemable]. Decoupage, paint,cut-outs, decals, stars? I have more books than shelves and am resorting to these studenty shelves because they are light, portable and cheap. Help!
