Hey there sir! Great to hear the updates! So sorry you have been through the wringer!! That sucks man!! On your carving future on KZbin, there's a channel out there called Doug linker. He does carving vids. Hey! On feeling down about a bunch of life stuff happening all at once, i like to go out to the back porch and fire up one of my twig stoves and sit there and stare at tge flames. It helps calm me down and centers me. Give it a whirl sometime. Take care man and it can only get better from here!!😁 NQU
@JethroJessop11 ай бұрын
I've come across Doug Linker before. There is a whole universe of whittling stuff out there, most of which is way out of my league. I'll see if I can find a way to put my own stamp on it. I know what you mean about the fire. Something very relaxing about making and tending one - especially a small one. I haven't done it for a while so perhaps I do need to get a little blaze going

@JethroJessop11 ай бұрын
Fire making is something I want to mess around with more. I have a ferro-rod but that is basically just a slightly less handy lighter. I'd love to learn how to consistently produce more than just smoke with a bow drill so I might make that a new year's resolution
@alisdar123411 ай бұрын
Great idea! My top tip is to use slightly punky ivy for both the spindle and hearth board. Fatwood for the top bit. When I say punky I mean solid enough. Give it a go. The wood selection is all important. @@JethroJessop

@@alisdar1234 Thanks for the tip! I think this is where I've failed in the past - and just being to hasty about the whole setup. I've made smoke, and warm wood, and a horrible screeching noise (damp wood?) but never quite got that ember going. I'll give it another go and we shall see how it goes

@JethroJessop10 ай бұрын
All that and more coming soon. I'm not actually sure what constitutes a good butter patt but that could be something to look into. Is there much to be gained by making your own butter? I thought it was just agitated milk??
@DIY-DaddyO10 ай бұрын
@@JethroJessop I think it's all about "keeping it pure" or some old tosh...
@JethroJessop10 ай бұрын
@@DIY-DaddyO I'd have thought sourcing local, organic, grass fed, free range, hand milked, unpasteurised milk would be the key to that. I made butter at school once. Fill a bottle with milk, drop a Lego brick in and shake vigorously for as long as your arm can take it. The brick collects a lump of butter (kind of). I also accidentally made yoghurt once by leaving an open bottle of milk in the sunshine by a Czech nudist bathing area. True story. It was actually pretty good yoghurt 😀
