Such a good discussion 😊 I’ve only read Henry’s Book Lovers but shall remedy that soon. I do read romance, especially in the last 10 years when I realised how much better they got, pushing the boundaries, dealing as you said consent, psychology and mental health, neurodivergence, classism, sexism, all kinds of -isms, etc. Again as you said, one of the defining trait of a good romance is character portrayal! And older casts are appearing too. Can I join on the Persuasion read? It is one of my favourites and I’ve been dying to buddy read it 😂
